Posting it here because it's gotten so ****ing annoying by myself.

I'm trying to open an m4a with FFmpeg on Audacity 1.3.12 beta on Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

When I try to import the audio file:

"Audacity attempted to use FFmpeg to import an audio file, but the libraries were not found. To use FFmpeg import, go to Preferences > Libraries to download or locate the FFmpeg libraries."

When I go to locate the libraries, I locate what is clearly the correct DLL, it still says "FFmpeg library not found," and it still can't open the file. There can't be anything I'm doing wrong, can there?

where did you get the mpeg library ? General you have to compile it yourself to get patented formats like mp4. As ffmpegs dll should be called avlib not ffmpeg.

nvm apparently they don't do that anymore
