I just restarted my FireRed and I just beat the first gym. I was planning for the team i was going to use for the E-4 and I came up with this:
Blastoise
Pidgeot
Arcanine
Victreebel
Dugtrio
Hitmonlee

I realize I have three weaknesses to Ice which is why I have Hitmonlee in case Arcanine goes down. But is there a better way to counter Ice types than having to waste a slot in my team? If so, please tell me.

ummm ice types? well Pidgeot learns steel wing Hitmonlee high jump kicks and shatters them Arcanine has fire, Dugtrio has rock moves. Dugtrio probably works best because it's so fast! The other things all go down to ice or water if they go 2nd. Except blastoise which doesn't care about ice or water attacks and can hit back with normal/steel/something else attacks if you have them. Oh and Blastoise learns brick break I think
