I just realized that these two actually look alike! It seems like Pokemon has been watching some Naruto a bit.

I never really noticed till yesterday after seeing a clip about the Gym Leaders from D/P and I thought to myself he really look like Minato. I guess Minato faked his death and abandoned his village to became a Pokemon gym leader.

They somewhat look alike but not as much as Volkner does. Even as kids they look alike.

Most blonde kids in anime look alike. Fact of life.

Resemblances also transcend voice actors too. Simon from Gurren Lagann and Sasuke from Naruto are both voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, and both end up becoming really angsty protagonists (although Simon is arguably less pessimistic than Sasuke is, especially since Sasuke fits the angsty bishonen pretty boy mold Square Enix has cast much more than Simon)
