Hey, I started thinking about this with a friend earlier today. What happens when you throw out a Zorua (or Zoruark) and your opponent is a Ditto and you're affected by Illusion (say, Infernape is what Zorua looks like). What does Ditto transform into when it uses the move "Transform?"

Well probably the Infernape since thats what the Zoura looks like at the time of transformation.

Interesting question. According to Smogon's "Transform" page, Transform copies the target's species. Unless "Illusion" changes Zorua's species to Infernape (in the example mentioned), then Ditto will turn into Zorua. Since Fight- and Bug-type attacks are still super effective on Zorua/Zoroark even after they change their appearances, I think their species doesn't change. Therefore, I assume Ditto will copy Zorua (although my theorizing can very well be wrong).

That Ditto will transform into Zorua, which in return will look like the next Pokémon in your team due to illusion. It is more of a double transformation. However, I don't know whether the Ditto will transform first to a Zorua, or straight away use Illusion.

It would be kinda trippy to see a Ditto transform straight away into your second pokemon when the Zoura is of another pokemon.

It said "the move failed" when I did it.

It makes my brain numb thinking about this confusing topic!!!!!

Wow thats pretty crazy when you think about it but I think Ditto would turn into Zoura

Or get stuck constantly transforming into the "illusion" and Zorua, thereby causing a distortion in Ditto's genetic structure and creating a combination of the illusion and Zorua forever until Ditto dies. A monstrosity is born.
