I took a video of some things on my desktop with hypercam 2, but when I run the file through winamp it's renered upside down and VLC renders it in negative. Any help here?

Using all defaults.

I have camstudio, but I'm not sure how good it is for games. Now seems like a good time to try it though.

Camstudio is what I use for my stuff, and from what I can tell, it's fine for games. I was even recording World of Warcraft and barely got any lag.

I tested with Camstudio, same problem. The problem is probably my AVI codecs. There's a VLC update downloading, though, so that might fix this roblem, but I doubt it.

EDIT: Looks alright. So, my codec was the problem after all it seems. Thread can be closed now.

EDIT2: Camstudio + Fullscreen applications = Nope.avi.

I'll have to go winderr'd after all.

VLC dosen't use codec from windows at all as it has its own libraries it uses. And yeah it sounds like your avi codec was replaced or something.

Maybe try http://www.fraps.com/ see if it works demo version only alows 30 sec capture if i remember correctly. but you can test.

I have FRAPS, but a 2 GB file for 10 minutes of video is not my idea of fun.

Camstudio seems to be working properly though it won't work on fullscreen games. I can maybe set the res all the way down on any game I can't put in windowed and use FRAPS on that and get good sizes.
