The topic hadn't been made yet, and Dekusnake brought it up in a different thread, so here's my little spiel of the Zelda timeline.

Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link occured first. TAoL is the direct sequel to LoZ.

The Link, Zelda, and Ganon from Link to the Past are related to the same characters from the first two games only in heritage.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask also contain a different Link, Zelda, and Ganon from LttP. MM is the direct sequel to OoT however.

The GBC Oracle games happen at the same time, although they are different versions. Link's Awakening never actually happened.

Tricky part here. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker BOTH occur a century after OoT. It's a safe assumption that these are two different branches of the Zelda universe.

The new Zelda for Wii hasn't been precisely stated to be related timeline wise to TP.

Phantom Hourglass is the direct sequel to Wind Waker. Spirit Tracks has been confirmed to have a new Link and Zelda.

Although the graphics are similar to WW, Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, and Minish Cap take place a century after Wind Waker. The two Four Swords shouldn't be considered mainstream.

My theory is that Link is actually from the year 3049 where time travel has been perfected and Link travels through time at various points and goes on random adventures.

Because when he put it in Hammerspace for easy storage, it disintegrated.

That or there is some sort of time travel restrictions where you can't bring weapons from a diffrent era so he can't bring it along with him therefore he needs to get new ones for his new quests

I kinda game up trying to work out the Zelda timeline after watching the Angry Video Game Nerd try to work it out. It's funny!

I've always wondered how some of the Zelda games link to the others. This thread clarified a small part of it, which is the time line.

I'm still confused.

I just think it's a new Link nearly every game. They could've all happened at the very same time in different galaxies or dimensions for all I care! xD

Olol, zelda timeline. .-. I read theorys about it it before, but it just makes my head hurt.

Oh also, I just started playing spirit tracks. Alfonzo, Niko, and a descendant of tetras in it. I think. It might be a really old Tetra, but I haven't finished it yet. Oddly enough, Niko grew really old, yet Alfonzo hasn't aged at all. o_o

Gwaaah, no wonder. I forgot the dood from winwaker was called Gonzo. :V Disregard that~!
