A press conference held by Nintendo in NYC earlier today revealed many details for the upcoming release of the 3DS.

The system will launch on March 27th for $249 (what the Wii cost at launch). The two colors available at launch will be "Aqua Blue" and "Cosmo Black". Each system will be sold with a 2GB SD card and a charging cradle. Packed-in software includes a Mii creator, an activity log, Augmented Reality games, an improved web browser, and a 3D video player. Finally (something I have been wanting ever since the release of Mario Kart DS), you now only have to register ONE Friend Code per system instead of each individual game!

So that's it. As the day goes on I'm sure more specific details will emerge. What are your thoughts on the price and the features the system comes with? Anyone going to pre-order this or are they going to hold off for now?

Wow. $249 is quite a lot for me, so I'll currently hold off on buying the 3DS. However, I must say that the new features nearly, if not fully, make up for the price, so it's not that expensive. Still, I have more important stuff to get right now, so the 3DS shall come later on (if I decide to buy it anyways).

I'll probably wait to buy it until the new Kingdom Hearts game comes out for it. Maybe the price will be lower by then.

Uh, hate to break it to you guys, but I doubt there'll be any price drops on the 3DS for a while(especially since this is very well priced...I expected $300), unless you mean after they put out the inevitable 3DS Lite.

Hm...I might hold off on getting this on release even though I should have the cash for it...sounds nice, but i'd rather not be stuck with the phat version, though I do need a replacement for my current DS Phat due to some screen issues it's having, so who knows.

Hmm... only $250. If I hadn't bought 90 bucks worth of PS2 stuff (including a PS2) two days ago, I might have been able to buy it right away... but alas, I must wait until later this year, after I've saved up enough money.

I actually put down my 50$ early on, so it's only 200$. And I have another $50 or so for it. :3

Also, Jad, the 3DS is slightly smaller than the DS Lite and slightly larger than the DSi.

Cool! I am going to preorder it and trade in my DSi, if I can, to help lower the price about $70.

I don't have to worry about price yet. I'm gonna be trading my DSi in soon, so the price of the 3DS will drop for me.
