Before I start, I'd like to say this is no debate. It's focused mainly on two franchises from the same company with two different game styles. This is meant to be nothing more then a fair competition on both Donkey Kong Country Returns and Kirby's Epic Yarn. Both will be placed in the same catagories and there will be no ties, and the one with the most points at the end wins.

I'm going to be judging them on five catogories:

Presentation

Gameplay

Sound

Replability

Nostalgia

and then,

the verdict

Presentation:

Donkey Kong Country Returns has an amazing presentation and actually feels like a trip down memory lane again. While Kirby's Epic Yarn does deliver in it's presentation of Yarn. It grows a little stale after a while. But, that in by no means brings the presentation down since the idea of Yarn ain't a bad idea. While Donkey Kong Country Returns also have the same feel with a style.

I think Donkey Kong Country Retuns wins this point hands down.

Gameplay:

Both have incredible gameplay, Kirby's Epic Yarn has an Animal Crossing/ Super Mario Bros./Super Paper Mario feeling, while Donkey Kong Country Returns plays a mix of New Super Mario Bros./ Donkey Kong Coutry-esque gameplay. They both have a different fell when you're playing both ,but Donkey Kong Country Returns goes for the more challenging difficulty then Kirby's Epic Yarn. Don't get me wrong, easy doesn't make a game worse. Since some times it can take paitence getting the unlockables in Epic Yarn. But, gameplay is all a game is about. Donkey Kong Country Returns reminds me of everything great an old NES/SNES game is like. Plus, a bit more creativity is used within the levels and the platforming.

Donkey Kong Country Returns wins another point on this one.

Sound:

I think both game nailed great soundtracks. Kirby's Epic Yarn remixes it's music and adds some new tracks to listen to. Donkey Kong Country has the same deal. Which makes it all the more harder to choose. So, the question is which is better....

Kirby's Epic Yarn wins this point, but only slightly they are both great in their own ways.

Replayibilty:

I think both are very good, but while you can do a boat load of stuff in Epic Yarn like getting furniture and new levels, Donkey Kong Country Returns really is the one to win, there are a crap load of unlockables. A big key for each area, puzzle pieces, the K.O.N.G pieces, and a special stage once you collect all the K.O.N.G pieces!

Donkey Kong Coutry Returns wins this by a long shot.

Nostalgia:

As much as I like to say Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn wins this at a long shot, why? Because I for the most part grew up with Kirby more then I did Donkey Kong. Since, Kirby's been my main one with Mario in the past decade ever since Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland on the GBA and still is now.

Kirby's Epic Yarn wins another point.

Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic is a great game. But, Donkey Kong Country Returns is a fantastic game.
