As you all know, the new year is just around the corner and in a matter of twelve days only, we will have left our memories of 2010 as we begin a new decade starting with 2011.
So, how has the year 2010 been for you? Did it involve a lot of happy and/or tragic events taking place? Was it just one of those normal years with nothing very special? Post your thoughts about it over here, and summarize all the ups and downs which you faced in this thread for other members to share.
As for me, 2010 has been one heck of an amazing year in so many ways; not only did it mark numerous important events taking place in my life, I also grew up and matured quiet significantly from my usual character of last year. Of course, 2010 also marked a lot of turning points in Victory Road's journey, and I'm really glad I was able to contribute to this evolution of the forums by managing the Victory Road Gym League. My personal, in-real-life relationships have been improving further and further, and my status in school reached an awesome level during the course of the year. I definitely faced some difficulties at some points, but I don't feel like they compare to the good events which took place. All in all, I think it was a truly memorable year for me, and I hope 2011 turns out to be as bright as 2010 was.
2010 was one of the worst years if not the worst year in my life. Something, which is too personal, occurred to my family for like three months, and it was just bad. Nevertheless, 2010 carried some good things, especially my new laptop that I am using. School was alright up to an extent. Yet, it stays a bad year in general and I hope 2011 to be a better year.
Early 2010... Not fun. I was on the basketball team at school and I hated it. That was all I thought about until I could get home for some time on the computer where I would forget about that momentarily. But through all that, my grades were amazing, the best of my life. All of this is my first year of high school, as a Freshman.
The summer, pretty awesome. Not as good as the one when I was addicted to RuneScape and played it like 10 hours a day but it was close.. xD
And now we come to this year. I love it. No more basketball so my life is going great. Grades are looking good, and heck, it's Christmas Break. Can't ask for much better right now.
Edit: I should also mention that I joined VR in February. ;3
That's my 2010.
You're in Christmas break already?
Lucky. [/offtopic]
2010 was quite an interesting year for me. It was neither really awesome nor really suckish, just... interesting.
A lot of stuff happened to me in the past twelve months, including finding Victory Road. In Spring, my internet obsession went through the roof when we got Wi-Fi, and could use our laptops whenever and wherever we want. My Summer is perhaps the most important one of my life, except perhaps for last Summer, for *cough* reasons too personal for me to share.
The first marking period of school seriously sucked. I joined the Cross Country team, and since I wasn't exactly the thinnest person in the school, I came in last place every time. I had more homework than ever before, and less time to do it, which is how I developed my habit of not doing my homework until the morning it's due. I also started sucking at math. But on the positive side, I realized how good I was at computer programming and decided on a career in computer science.
So, 2010 had its suckish parts and its not-so-suckish parts. Let's hope 2011 is just as interesting as 2010 was, minus the suckish parts.
In early 2010 it was pretty good. I was still in grade 8 and my grades were wonderful. Then school just got easier and easier from then on, and in February the Olympic torch came to Winnipeg and I got to see it (I don't know what's so special about it, but it was really cool). Then summer came along and I was on the Wii and occasionally my laptop chatting on VR. The whole summer I only went out somewhere with my friends once, which is insane. Then late August, before school started it got really bad for a day or 2 then it was perfect. School started and I was getting some fairly good grades. I'm in a different class than most of my friends, but we hang out and lunch and in homeroom and we go to 7Eleven 1-4 times a week. And yeah, it's been good ever since. ^~^
My 2010 was better than some of my other years, but not the best. The best thing was when I met a certain someone, another was when I joined this wonderful place in Mid-March. But other than that, it's been alright. Overall good year to be here.
My 2010 has been rather interesting to say the least. Even though lots of bad happened and not much good, I guess I wouldn't really consider it a bad year per se. Just a year with lots of changes, probably for the better.
Early in the year was my last semester in my Applied Computing major, which was an awful time for me. However, the change made me entirely happy. However, that only lasted a little while, because the major I switched to, Graphic Design, isn't for me either, so I'm switching again.
For most of the year, I was stressed greatly, but late in the year, I found methods to start dealing with it.
I've hopefully learned not to procrastinate on my school work anymore, because it resulted in chopping off a corner of my thumb because I was trying to rush to get a graphic design project done in time.
I've also gained a much closer relationship with my grandparents, which is good.
As far as the internet goes, while 2009 was really my prime time for MPCing, my MPC hobby is still going well. I also started playing video games more often, which has improved my mood. I got a start on LPing, which I'm hoping will take off in 2011.
I might say that I had a rather enjoyable year. I guess. It was a year of many beginnings for me.
Nothing much to say about early 2010, besides I was still picking up the A's in all of my classes and struggling in English (like usual, but this time with a rather interesting teacher).
June 2010: Probably the most eventful and funnest month; school trips, middle school culminations, awards, dances (OMFG I dance!? o_0) and the whole lot of it. Plus getting an award for getting straight A's for six semesters in a row. ;D
And then I joined VR and made tons of new friends here. ![]()
Summer 2010: Not bad at all. I was excited for entering high school and hanging out with everyone here. Plus the trip to the East Coast was a rather interesting trip (despite many repetitive arguments between my mom and my sister).
September 2010: New school year, high school begins! I was really excited. Also I enjoyed my birthday thoroughly (again thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday again, which I recently realized was the 3-month anniversary of my joining of VR) and it seemed like a new beginning.
October 2010: New Beginnings yet again - I got Pokemon White and became instantly addicted.
Nowadays: Not much of note.
Of course, there's been the bad - tons of family arguments, my lack of friends remains a problem, slight depression issues, etc. I guess they're things to be endured.
Well, here's to a happy, safe and healthy 2011!
1 – ShadowMy 2010 was... I'd say interesting and internet addictive. X3
Early 2010 started off quite easy. My first year in Middle School as a 6th grader. I expected it to be filled with bullies in the halls, me being an outsider, and all that good stuff.
I underestimated. It was actually quite fun moving around a lot, making new friends, having many different classes, and technology as my elective.
In the Spring time? March 2010 I "discovered" VR. I kinda stood away from it cause it seemed like a big Forum and I was the new guy. I remember it took me a while to get about 30 posts. ![]()
I would just be the lurker in VR.
My activity didn't really boost as I was addicted to an adoptables site I had just found that same month.
Spring was cool at school. Hanging out with friends and family.
Summer time at about June 2010 was when I lost my life to the interwebz. It was Summer Break and the computer was what I used to pass the time. I started becoming more active here eventually gaining 100 posts.
Then I became unactive again as I had been offered a Staff position on another site I was addicted to.
Winter 2010 was ossim. I became a 7th grader and school was even cooler, and for once I loved it. ^o^
I got good grades, joined sports teams, blah blah blah.\
Became WAY more active here reaching 700+ posts.
Now here I am, Christmas Break waiting for Christmas and school to start.
