I recently came across the uncut subtitled "Mewtwo Strikes Back" movie online, which of course, puts the heavily edited/overly-Americanized dub verion to shame, but my hubby and I were wondering, based on how well dubbed the most recent Pokemon movies like Darkrai and Giratina were (I've seen the subs for Giratina and they are almost word-for-word, and nothing cut from the dub that I can see), just how would the original Mewtwo movie be dubbed if it come out today rather than back in 1998-99. We think it would have been so much more true to the original..."Revelation Lugia" also....any thoughts??

2000 would be very epic (considering how much I liked the original). But I didn't totally like Mewtwo Strikes Back. I mostly watch it for nostalgia. I'd probably say it'd still be better.

yes, I would agree about Lugia, however, I was watching the sub of that movie also, and while much of Team Rocket's "self awareness" in the dub does not exist in the orginal, I was disappointed to see that right after they let go and fell off of Lugia, they called out to Ash stating "You're the main character!" Please tell me it was subbed wrong...I've already mentioned how much this kind of thing drives me nuts in the dub (ie "Diamond and Pearl" references in Manaphy)...so it kind of ruined the Lugia movie for me...

I kind of find it funny when characters break the 4th wall, but that's my opinion. I guess it would have been more epic if they didn't do that, but Team Rocket is half there for comic relief...

don't get me wrong - we LOVE Team Rocket...just not when they do that...
