CHAPTER 1

The Night

Afternoon was when it started, the afternoon of Halloween night last year. The kids were all out trick or treating and what not, but I felt suspicious. Different. Unusual. It WAS Halloween, but it wasn't Halloween at the same time. It was worse.
My friend Tristan was with me. he was dressed up as, well, himself. We were too old for Halloween. I sat on my grandparents couch waiting for some children to come trick or treat. A group of kids came by, just to trick, not treat. They did end up taking some candy though. When I say some candy, I meant all of it.
Since all the candy was gone, we went out to go by some from the gas station down the street. It was only now getting dark. "Why do WE have to go, Andrew?" my friend Tristan asked. He was never the positive type, "Cuz YOU AIN'T GOT NO PANCAKE MIX!" was my reply. We laughed and moved on.
