HeartGold and SoulSilver are based on the Game Boy Color games Gold and Silver which premiered 10 years earlier. In the pair of games you travel the region of Johto and later Kanto, fighting the usual Pokémon trainers along the way and saving the something from Team Rocket. In all there are 16 badges to earn, all of which can be rematched. The greatest challenge of all is at the end when you fight the supreme champion of the Indigo League!
You will also be able to get special Hoenn legendaries Rayquzza, Kyorge (HeartGold), Groundon (SoulSilver), Latias (HeartGold), and Latios (SoulSiver). Plus, several Nintendo events allow access for the legendary beasts of Sinnoh, a special Notched-Ear Pichu, and even a complex backstory with your Rival's earlier childhood.
Finally, with the included PokéWalker you can send your Pokémon to the PokeWalker and travel with them. You get catch wild Pokemon, get items, and level up.
