CoroCoro Special was released in Japan and has revealed a new feature in double and triple battles in the future games, Pokémon Black and White. This feature is said to be combination attacks; if you select two or more specific attacks in a specific order, they will produce a new effect. Only 3 moves have been shown getting combined, but it is hinted that more moves can be combined.

  • By using Grass Oath followed by Fire Oath, a field of fire will be produced, that will damage your foe's Pokémon.
  • By using Fire Oath and then Water Oath, a rainbow will be created. This rainbow boosts the secondary effects of your moves.
  • By using Water Oath followed by Grass Oath, wetland field that lowers your opponent's speed will be created.

That's cool, but a bit weird, I find. I can't wait to see them in action!

That sounds Interesting. I like the side effects that they create.

This seems like a useful addition to double and triple battles.
I just hope the list of compatible moves includes strong attacks, not just ones which are barely used.

This seems a little pointless. When I first heard about it, it made me think of the combo attacks in Contests. I don't see this as anything but a fancy version of Helping Hand. =/ It is nice to see a new feature, but I think unless this is overwhelmingly popular among other Pokemon, this is just another feature wasted on the starter Pokemon.

I am kind of skeptical as to how useful this is actually going to be, since it may be rather limited as to which moves will produce such effects. Still, I don't imagine this to be a terrible addition at all.

This does seems kind of strange, but it reminds me of triple finish from Brawl.

This is basically new strategy to the game. Along with triple battles, Pokemon is becoming something completely different. Now we have to worry about weather, stat loss, conditions, AND fields.

I've got a feeling the metagame is going to change a hell of a lot with these games... New Pokémon, new attacks, new abilities, combo attacks... There's a lot going on. o_o

I truly believe that the triple battles are going too far. Pretty soon, we'll have six-on-six battles so it'll be an all-out slaughter.

Wow, imagine waiting for your opponent to choose moves in multi-battles on triple battles if you're swift...
...And now imagine 6-on-6.

Having more than triple battles is ridiculous, and it would be lame if they introduce more. But having such effects during the battle, are going to make the metagame more complex. I kinda like that.

Yeah, that's very true. Imagine the amount of work which Serebii, Smogon and other major Pokémon sites have to do with all these additions. And then there's the competitive battlers who want to adapt to the changes as soon as possible. Heck, the release of Pokémon B/W will mean a complete change to the metagame due to all the new stuff.

As a non-competitive pokemon battler, I like this new addition. I just hope they have enough NPC double/triple battles to use it enough.
