Many people chained a certain Pokémon for like 200+ times, yet they never encountered any shiny one. That didn't mean they had to give up or throw their games away.

The point is, you need a lot of patience to stumble upon a shiny Pokémon.

I really, REALLY hope you know the average odds of finding a shiny... a little over 8,000.

Just because you didn't find a shiny doesn't mean throw your perfectly good game away.

I love shinies and yet I only have found one in all of my games (besides red Gyrados).

Anyway, if you want a shiny, breeding foreign pokemon is the best way to do it.

Uhh... You two do know that Pokéradar Chaining makes shinies a lot more common? After a chain of 40 or so, finding one isn't hard. Though I've never chained anything higher than 20-ish...

NOW GET THAT GAME OUTTA THE BIN!

Well, chaining also brings down the chance of finding one, but that's besides the point. This does seem frustrating, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's possessed. That honor is reserved for games that glitch out unexpectedly and have creepy music when they do. Anyway, I've never really tried chaining for a shiny before, but any shiny will definitely take much time to get.

I chained Roselia once till 12 and then I got a shiny Pikachu! xD
I then chained a Pikachu till 9, and then a shiny Staravia appeared and was caught! I guess I am just too lucky. xD

lol sorry about my eariler post, I took it out the bin... still annoyed though.

For those of you who dont know, once chained to 40, the shiny ratio is approximately 1/200 for all 4 patches, making it much easier to get multiple shiny pokemon, but for me...this didn't work. I was only joking about it being possessed, its just that I have never got a shiny pokemon by chaining before despite it being claimed to be easy... every single time I try, something like this happens. The reason I was so annoyed this time is that I finally reached 40 in a chain, and about after 100 pokerader resets with a chance of 4x 1/200 of getting a shiny, I still didn't get one...wasting the 3+ hours I spent chaining

Dont know, if I can really be bothered to shiny hunt anymore now

Don't hunt for shinies, it's a waste of time. What I do i go through the game a flip the ***k out if a shiny appears.

Hunting for shinies is a lot of fun! You shouldn't stop, and chaining is a lot less boring than Masuda method. And don't worry a bit, since I found a shiny Psyduck at a chain of 19, so just keep trying!

Do you realize how rare a shiny is (or another Pinsir after so many) even then? That and shiny hunting isn't the only use for a Pokemon game.

By the way: 700th post in this board WOOT

A shiny is a 1/200 chance if you are using the PokéRadar.

Starting from the 40th chain, that is. That is a high chance, but it is still a chance, so it is actually pretty normal for no shinies to appear. Also, resetting your Poké Radar is a better idea once you hit 40th - keep resetting until shiny spots appear. (Move around to recharge, but don't get all spots out of sight - at least one needs to be in view!)
