I thought I made one of these before.. Maybe not.
Anyway this is a Need For Speed discussion thread. Mostly to divert the discussion from the "Post Your Desktop" thread..
So here are some replies to posts on that to start us off. o3o

No NFSUII/Carbon, SK? D:
I dominated NFSUII in my lil Peugeot 206, or the Hundai Tiburon. Whichever I felt like. n.n And Carbon in the Viper or the Porche Carerra GT. o3o What do you run? n.n |

NICE CHOICE NFSU1 FOR GAMECUBE cause I have it
Really though, it's better than NFSU2 minus not having an open map. |
Methinks this should go in gaming cause NFS isn't just PC.
You can actually start to explore the NFSU1 map in some areas where you can go for ages past the barrier. The most notable one is on that shortcut where the traffic going across is almost unavoidable, and the traffic is coming from a bridge. You can go for ages on that bridge before it resets you.
NFSUI wasn't nearly the game NFSUII was. Honestly, by a very thin margin, NFSUII is my favorite racing game of all time. The variety in races, vehicles, the customization options, and the ability to pull any vehicle up to top ranks bears favor with me.
New NFSU games annoy me somewhat. Look at Carbon. I was jazzed to see the '69 SS and the 300C. The Viper was also awesome... But the fact that they were beaten by an Audi R8... Ugh. I hate Audi R8s. >:l
I want to see racing games [Like Drift City n.n] who employ the ability to modify any vehicle to super ranks. That's one reason I love Forza, as well, as I can take a Beetle GTS and plop the AWD V6 from the Golf 32 under the hood, and bam, I'm untouchable.
But yeah, back to this. o3o
I race all games, really, but in Need For Speed, I lean towards muscle where I can, avoiding Fords. I prefer the brute force of Dodge or the grace of Chevy. n.n
You're running Windows, that's the problem. o3o
Nosrsly, try uninstalling the entire program, and reinstalling it. I know it sounds stupid, but give it a shot.
A probably faster alternative would be to go back to the NFS:World download page, and download it again. Your machine will ask if you want to remove NFS:World, or repair it. Click the obvious: Repair. It should fix it up in minutes. o3o
I think I'm addicted to NFSU1 at the moment. D:
Speaking of that, I just switched to a manual transmission, after some frustration with the automatic. I kept overbraking to make it shift down to get acceleration, and eventually it caused me to lose a race.
And also on Technomancer's post quoted in the OP, I just usually use a Tiburon for speed and leave the visuals stock, and then I use a Civic for magazine covers and stuff, and I also use some of my spare money to buy performance upgrades. Although on my only completed file my Civic is the fastest, and the handling sucks. D:
