Well, we do have a topic going for our favorites in each genre: http://www.buizel.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=43

But for best game overall, I would say either SM64 or SMG

I think SM64 was... well, I loved it as a kid, and loved re-playing it on the VC, I guess I am just sick of it.

My favorite is SMG2.

That's a toughie...

The one I'm most addicted to is Mario Kart Wii...but is it the best? Hardly.

I need to think....
NSMB was bad due to limited saving points...
SMG was somewhat to easy...
MKDD was cheap at times...
SM64 was too long...still haven't beaten it. xD
Classic Mario gets old fast

you know what? I'm going to say all of them...This is making me think to much. xD

I think SM64 is too short.

Hmm...
My favorite 3-d game would be Sunshine, mainly because of Yoshi. It's, like, the only thing Galaxy is lacking. (Next Favorite: Galaxy 2)
My favorite RPG would be Thousand Year Door, mostly because of Luigi's Adventures.
My favorite sidescroller... can't decide between Super Mario World or NSMB, but I'll go with SMW until NMSB Wii comes out-- again, because of Yoshi. In case you didn't notice yet, I favor Yoshi.

Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES. Damn, I love that game.

On the other end of the scale, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is pretty awesome!

That game's won my award for 'Best NES game EVER'. And yet I've still never completed it

Any Mario platformer, I guess. More specifically, NSMBW at the moment because I'm trying to get through all the levels without a single powerup exept the one you get from checkpoints. And probably MK3DS when I get that game.

Took the words from my mouth. Super Mario World has a high replayablitiy and it's always fun to go back and play the levels again. SMG2 is also one of the best Mario games of all times because the same reasons with Super Mario World plus with great music and graphics. It sucks you in and I got addicted when I play for the first time.

Super Mario World, it has some of the greatest music in video game history (in my opinion). It always brings back memories when I play it, I will probably always play it.

Super Mario Bros 3

Probably spent more time playing that game then any other in my life, practically learned to read from reading the game's strategy guide
Aside from that it's a 2d platforming masterpiece with enough secrets loaded through it to keep even the best of players coming back and discovering things they had never found before, some of the newer games are trying to return to their roots here but they're just barely missing the mark with it, not to say they aren't good they just haven't reached the level of platforming awesome this game had.

You all sicken me, SUPER MARIO LAND is the best! New Super Mario Bros sucks! I HATE that game, They should remake Super Mario Land instead of New Super Mario Bros! Birabuto Kingdom is more popular than the place in Stupid New Super Mario Bros! and I hate it because Luigi cries! WAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Mario and Luigi series is awesome too.

New Super Mario Bros isn't a remake, why would they remake it?

It's been pretty well demonstrated anyways that they prefer to make completely new games anyway instead of rehashing old content, better that way imo anyways (less lazy on the idea side)

Super Mario World is an amazing game, and being able to carry it around with me is awesome. I've put so much time into that game, finding all 96 exits and around half the Yoshi Coins.

It's a tie between Super Mario Bros. 3 and Paper Mario: The thousand year Door...

Super mario bros 3 was my first ever Mario game played. I was 5 years old... and I didn't think it could get any better than that.

Super Mario Advance 4/ Super Mario Brothers 3 remake. I still have fond memories of my 8+ hour trip to another state and playing that game all the way up, and all the way back. It was really good.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

I'm SO surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet! It's an excellent game and by far one of my overall favorite video games ever. It features Mario characters but has a game play like Final Fantasy, mostly because this game was created by both Nintendo and Square (Enix). It also includes one of my favorite Mario characters: Geno.

I strongly suggest that anyone who has not heard of this game to look it up. I can't stress enough how awesome this game is to me. XD
