Why have I not done this before?

It seems like most of this forum hasn't actually played the Metroid series of games, except for a few people here and there. For the unaware, Metroid is a platforming, exploration-based shooter that originated on the NES, mixing the Super Mario series' famous 2-D platforming linearity with the Zelda games' freedom and travel. Any discussion about this series can go here.

I never really got interested in the Metroid games. I've only played Metroid and Super Metroid (And a bit of MP3), and I never got very far because the maps are so darn big, I just end up getting lost or getting killed.

Nin, have you ever played any Zelda games? The maps are basically like that, except you're always traversing through the overworld and not a specific dungeon.

Oh god Metroid.
Oh god Metroid.
OH GOD METROID.

I love these games. I currently own Prime Trilogy and I will own Other M. So far, I've played through more than half of MP3, not much of MP1, a little bit of Super (from the Brawl 3-minute demo), and, well, that's really it. I've also been looking around for MP: Hunters (despite the lukewarm reviews, I want it for the experience), so yeah.

Just wish those energy tanks located in the Morph ball shafts weren't so damn hard to get.

Metroid's kickass, but every time I start any adventure game at all ever I start playing something else after not too long, so I've never beaten any of them. I think I'll start playing Corruption again soon and maybe actually beat it eventually. :B When I have enough money after buying a bass amp GL buys me a bass amp I'll see about buying all of the Metroid games and actually completing them.
