Note: This thread will be a fair history on Sonic and NO BASHING!

Nintendo used to take the spotlight with Mario back then and it used to be superior, by today's standard's, yeah, Mario is the most popular. But, back then it had another company to compete back then. With the company's name Sega. When then came up for a idea to top Nintendo, Sega thought of making a blue hedgehog named Mr.NeedleMouse. That's what Sega thought and they would have a female human, a rock band and 3 other rock n roll characters. But, someone at Mattel's said they were doing it all wrong! (I'm glad they had him to suggest stuff for it) He said to get rid of the rock band, human girlfriend, and the 3 other unconfirmed rock characters. So, then they had to get rid of stuff off Mr. NeedleMouse such as the fangs, make the spikey hair less spikey and more smoother and to make the eyes and mouth less serious. And with that comes this:

A spikey blue hedgehog named..... Sonic! Sega then had to plan on what to call their video game, so they called it Sonic The Hedgehog for the Sega genisis. While Nintendo was the man of the group the female had to become the Sega genisis. MORE SEGA GENISIS WERE SOLD MORE THEN NES! And has Sega finally suceeded..... I'm afraid not. But, I'll talk about that later. They then made Sonic the Hedgehog 2, a game that sold more then the first Sonic the Hedghog game. Another sucessful Sonic game! 1996, then, came Sonic 3 & Knuckles and they were great! While, didn't sell as much as the 2nd Sonic game. It still sold HIGH! And then,.....it happened.... the competitors were at a high point! Nintendo was going to make the Nintendo 64 and Sony joined the fight! Sega then planned on releasing the Sega Saturn. With Sega Saturn's overpriceness Sega started to plument down. This is where Sega gets ANNOILATED! They created Super Mario 64! And it sold 11 million copies!!! So, does Sony with the Playstation 1, $100 cheaper then the Sega Saturn. Then, Sega gave it one more go with the Sega DreamCast. With awesome games such as Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2! But, by this time Sega stopped making games on their consoles and then gave up their companies to Microsoft, Sony's, and you know it, even Nintendo's. And this is why everyone seems to bash Sonic nowadays because the anwser is probably that Sega signed a contract to the devil and gave up their souls, or in a more clearer meaning, if Sega still sold games on their consoles, Sonic wouldn't be bashed as much. And that's the history of Sonic.

Please post comments about this.

Uau, really interesting! I'm glad they didn't call him Mr. NeedleMouse because that would have made him really unpopular, I think...

Also on one cartoon called Sonic Underground he actually had a rock band, but cartoons and videogames are two independent businesses

Yep, people would think of him as a mickey mouse clone. I'm glad also.
