It's a program for PC and (now)Mac where you can download games, talk with friends, and play games from it. I highly reccommend getting it, especially since there's going to be a free to play Team Fortress 2 weekend starting tomorrow!

Anyhoo, I think I'll play Team Fortress 2 for free and then bother my mother by having her buy it.

Physical copies cost $10, so it actually makes sense to buy it on Steam while it's on sale. If I end up not buying it by Monday I'll just buy it on Amazon.
