Okay, my friends and I are having a race to see who can complete Pokemon FireRed the fastest (Completion being defeating the Champion).
So far I'm two hours and seven minutes in and I've reached Lavender town. I chose Bulbasaur as my starter, and I'm taking the stupid route of making that (Now a Venasaur) the only powerful Pokemon I've got, all other Pokemon are HM slaves. Therefore, my team consists of:

UBERBOOB/VENASAUR
Level: 36

DIGLETT/DIGLETT
Level: 17

I have battle animations off to make the game quicker (None of my friends have done this - idiots!), battle style on Set and Text Speed on Fast.

So... Anyone got any tips or tricks for me? And, if you haven't already, you should try this! We're playing 30 minutes of it at school every day, and 30 minutes at home every day, checking each other using the game clock. Whoever finishes first wins!

Go get yourself a Growlithe and make sure to get a Dragonair in the Safari Zone, Dragonite'll save you a ton of time.

^wrong Dragonair are pain in the rear to train. It is only good once it is fully evolved.

Anyways, get a good fire type like Growlithe like JAD said.A water type like Krabby is also good.

Well, training shouldn't matter much, it's just great for Lance, even if you have a Dragonair. I used one when I played FireRed a while back(I was playing along chuggaaconroy's LP)

Thanks for that, guys! Unfortunately I've used my 30 minutes already today, but I'll be sure to grab a Growthlie tommorow! I'm not quite at Fuschia YET, but I do have the Pokéflute. I'm going to beat Erica first, so Dragonair will have to wait.

It may be too late, but if you can, get an Abra. Alakazam can rip through just about anything with his enormous Sp.Atk, and I'm not just saying this because I like him. He really is brutal, and you can get an Alakazam at Level 16 because that is when Abra evolves into Kadabra, and a trade gets you Alakazam.

i have beat firered in just 22 hours by using this lazy method: turn super speed on by using the game boy visual and then trade from a diffrent fr or lg that has traded with sapphire or ruby and has a kyogre/rayquaza they will cream everything and get u through everything quick

or grodun if u like psychics

:l

As you can probably guess, the race is long over. I won, of course, with an in-game time of 6 hours something.

I guess this thread can be closed now.

And Coteup, use some common sense.
