I'm going to senior next year in high school. Lately, they've been trying to finalize schedules at the school. Mostly everybody in our "advanced" math class at one point wanted to do Calculus next, instead of FST (Functions, Statistics, and Trig I believe). They wanted it for college credit, but now it's not going to be. It's not even decided if we're going to have Calc or FST. Our councilor came in today to talk about it with us and said that they would do what the majority wanted. As of right now, it's a 6-6 split. Some of the people just want to have an easy senior year with FST, while one specific one, one of my friends, wants it so he can dual enroll and take it as a college course instead of not having it count for college credits. He's not even passing Pre-Calc right now. I myself want Calc, but that's not even the worst part of it. That comes now. I also want to go to a Vocational Technology center (to hereby now be referred to as Votech) which requires the last two periods of my day. As of today, the master schedule has FST or Calc at 7th period. I screws me over because I want to take a programming class there. They said they don't want to have less time for the underclassmen to have math periods. We have 3 different math teachers. (Though I have to admit that one isn't very good.) What do you think about my situation? Is it fair to me not to have a 4th year math just because I want to take programming? Keep in mind that I go to a smallish school. I want to know what you guys think.

I think you should still be able to take your math class despite you going into a programming course, because the math class would still help you some.

See, if you're thinking about going into a type of career involving computers, then you most definitely need experience with computers as well as a great deal of math. To randomly cut one out would be really stupid because you'd be that much more unexperienced.
