Did anyone else notice that the basis for these pokemon is almost exactly the same?

They're both the first Pokemon being introduced from their generation.

They're both stars in their own movies.

They both have the same evolutionary chain.

They even look similar.

1. Munchlax was first.

3, 2 Evos means nothing.

4. No. They actually resemble one another. If Lucario were black/red and had a ponytail, he would be almost identical to Zoroark. Not to mention the name differentiation between evolutions is similar.

I don't think Zoroark look anything close to looking like Lucario at all. Same goes with Zorua and Riolu. A battle would be epic, but personally I think people are taking the whole "New Lucario" thing too seriously. I just hope that Nintendo doesn't make Zoroark end up like Lucario, the oh so popular one. Not that I hate lucario, I love him. Its just that they make him seem overrated.

Zoroarks epic. It looks slightly like a Lucario with big hair. Though there are other similarities, like you said, such as it's the star of a movie.

I'll admit they seem similar, but there are enough differences that I wouldn't call Zoroark the 'new Lucario'.

Lucario and Zoroark seem alike. And if Zoroark can control Aura.. then duh.

They seem like Rivals to me.

Zoroark is a cool Pokemon created to help gather hype for the 5th generation, just like Lucario was with the 4th. Sure, they look similar and have similar roles, but the pair are vastly different in other ways. You might as well say that Mijumaru is almost the exact same thing as Piplup, even though it isn't. Also, unless Zoroark is extremely amazing in some currently unknown way, then there's no way he'll be as cool as Lucario to me (Or possibly as good of a Pokemon).

I was hoping that Lucario and Zoroark end up being rivals but at the same time, how likely is that? I mean, this Pokemon is a Fifth Generation one. It is a Dark Type while Lucario is a Fighting and Steel Type. While Zoroark and Lucario may look slightly similar to one another, Zorua and Riolu look nothing alike so really their names shouldn't even be mentioned here. I think Lucario and Zoroark do have other similarities. I can only say so for sure when more is learned about Zoroark.

By the way, yes... Lucario was based off of Anubis. Or as I call them Running Dogs, xD... Or Wolves on Feet. ;P

They look a like. I agree with that. Currently, I prefer Lucario.

I too must say I prefer Lucario but at the same time, how can I say anything about a Pokemon I've never seen in action? I think I will like the Pokemon that Zoroark is portrayed to be but I still don't think I will like it more than Lucario.

Another reason why people are starting to believe that Zoroark and Lucario are somewhat connected (or that Zoroark is a rip-off of Lucario) is because Celebi plays a huge role in Zoroarak's movie and Mew played a big role in Lucario's. Also, I believe that Entei, Suicune, and Raikou will be in Zoroark's movie as Regirock, Regice, and Registeel were in Lucario's.

Considering Darkness-type's weakness to Fighting-types, I'd say Lucario and Riolu have the upper hand. But then again, types aren't everything...

I think that it would be quite interesting if Zorua and Zoroark were to be Riolu and Lucario's rivals and they have an episode or something "in-game" with that scenario in it. Would be great to see those four or at least Lucario and Zoroark face-off.

I would like to see what new moves Zoroark brings to the table... and actually new moves for every type in the fifth generation. ;P

All this rival fan art and stuff I see of those two just because of similaritys.

Ah, that too would be good but brothers can be rivals. And I just think it would be cool to see Zoroark and Lucario be rivals but at the same time friends. Kind of how Gary and Ash get along now but are still rivals.
