Yup, I'm finally in a Poké'd enough area so that I can get to prereleases! This will be my first public Pokémon TCG tournament. I'm hoping I can get the Crobat Prime or another beast card to dominate the noobs!
Wish me the luck on May 8th, 2010, everybody!

Dude, nice! I don't play cards anymore, but I do wish you the best of luck. I would probably eventually go to one if I still did, but oh well. Good luck and I hope you get that card!

I've reviewed the set list for HS Unleashed (along with PokéBeach's translations) and I'm pretty sure I know what I'll use if I get it.

I've decided NOT to use Crobat. The only thing it'd be good for is x4 Poison (40 damage per turn instead of 10 damage), and Steelix would just negate that effect.
Steelix is also pretty bad, unless you are also using Lanturn . Lanturn's ability may be crap, but its attack, Powerful Spark, has a 40 base damage, with an additional 10 damage for each Energy card on ALL of your Pokémon. If you have enough energies, you can easily rack up a 100 or even 120 attack.
Kingdra is also pretty good, but you're screwed if your opponent uses Fire-types, as they lower its 60 attack to a wimpy 20.
Tyranitar is pretty much a high-risk high-reward card, with its 20-to-all (but Dark-types) attack, defense-ripping 60 attack, and powerhouse 120 attack, which makes you discard the top 3 cards of your deck.
As for Ursaring, he can also be a huge powerhouse if he gets damaged, for its ability gives him +60 damage to both of his attacks. His first attack normally does 30, and discards your opponent's top card of the deck. The second is just a normal 60 damage attack.

As far as normal cards go, Vileplume :45: and Flareon can be pretty good. Vileplume's :45: ability blocks either person from using Trainer cards, which can be a pain either way, depending on your deck. Flareon (being a Fire-type) can negate Kingdra , and it has a 90 attack. The only downside is having to discard an Energy from it (which won't be too bad if you have an Energy Search in your hand).

And for the Trainers, Supporters, and Stadiums, Defender and PlusPower can help out if you have a weak Pokémon up against something like Ursaring . Flower Shop Girl can help recover 3 Energies and 3 basic Pokémon that were Knocked Out, and return them to your deck. Team Rocket's Handiwork pretty much replaces Bill, and as an added bonus, discards a card from the opponent's deck. Burned Tower can recover energies at the beginning of your turn, providing the luck of the coin is with you. And finally, for the uber-rare Alph Lithograph 3, it will make the current Stadium card return to its owner's hand. Pretty useless for a 1/108-pack chance card. But it's shiny! Shiny is always good!

If you're gonna be going to one of these fatalistically fantastic events, what do you plan on using?

(If you're wondering why poor Rotom wasn't included, since he is a part of this set, his attacks and ability aren't very good. D: )

Oh look at that, neither Vileplume, nor Flareon, nor Rotom were a part of this set. What a shame.
