In my family, I'm one of the major video gamers. (Mostly everyone around my age -mainly no one in the group most people consider "adult"- is also a gamer) Due to this fact, people always associate me with technology. "Oh, Lite's good with gadgets, so if my HDTV busts itself, I'll know who to call!" ...No. I'm not good with technology, I'm just a gamer. And sometimes all of their problems are easy fixes. "Why isn't my printer working?" "You never installed it/You never plugged it in/You're not clicking "Print" (I swear, the last one actually happened once.)" "What's wrong with the automatic trash can?" First of all, no one needs an automatic opening trash can. Second of all, the batteries needed to be swapped.
Has anyone else had/does anyone else have the same gripes I have?
I get the same thing with the TV. "Oh no it's not working!" Is it plugged in? "No" *facepalm*
I am quite handy around technology though, and I've modded/fixed/reinforced quite a few of my games stuff. Then again, I'm only an average gamer (average skill, playing all the time), so I can be bothered do do that stuff.
To quote one of my teachers keep it a secret that you know how to take a computer apart.
My grandma had a pentum 2 desktop that I almost entierly kept running for 5-7 years it was 15 years old when it died. Amusingly it ran Halo multiplayer with out glitching. It had a video card upgrade and a 30gb drive update. pathetic by todays 2tb drives we have
People seem to assume that I have all of the games for the systems I own. For instance, if I tell my grandmother that there aren't any games out that I'm interested in, she has a hard time believing that there "aren't any new games" for that system. It's kind of funny to think of actually owning every single game for that system, though ![]()
