So I'm breeding to try to get a Jolly Gligar that's male with decent stats (IV's) so that I can make a Gligar suitable for Heartgold and SoulSilver (I want to trade a Gligar egg over to the games with decent moves to start off the game).

I have a Jolly Ditto I'm breeding with a Gligar right now (the Ditto holding an Everstone for added chance for the nature), but for the longest time, I couldn't get a male Gligar with a Jolly nature. I got all my FEMALES with a Jolly nature, but WHERE IS A JOLLY GLIGAR!?!?

20 eggs in, I finally get one that's male with a Jolly nature, but the IV's are a little off (the characteristic is "Very Finicky" which is usually a bad sign for good stats for speed, defense, and attack).

I might stick with this one now, do you guys think I should keep breeding and just hope I get a better one?

Here's what he looks like:
Jolly Nature
Characteristic: Very Finicky
Ability: Sand Veil
Stats:
HP-12
Attack-6
Defense-7
Sp. Att.-4
Sp. Def.-6
Speed-6

Edit: I ended up getting just the kind I want, but I still wish I made a slightly better one attack-wise. Oh well.

Thank goodness for that one dude at the Battle Tower who checks your Pokemon.

Always wanted one myself but I tend to take a long time to get started on training my Pokemon. For example, I stopped playing for about three months on Platinum and only about two months ago decided "Hey, I'll train a Porygon-Z. Why not? He's strong and covers a lot of different Pokemon."

The Pokemon I tend to make are part of my team forever usually (unless I make them for a story team; those are entirely different usually).

This is why I hate EV training and nature/IV resetting.

It' either an exciting process or an obnoxious necessity, but it always ends up benefiting you in the end.

Look at my Tyranitar. Roy had to breed the hell out of it to get one with perfect attack IV's. You guys have barely seen its beatiness. Once I get a DD up, he's damn scary even to a Regi.

Course, I haven't done as much breeding as him and Christian. They're crazy and have perfect 31 IV Pokemon for Walls and Sweepers a like (not in all areas but pretty good none-the-less).

Hey, it took me over 90 tries to get my minun, but then those hatch faster...
