If nintendo had to get rid of one of these four top franchises because of money problems which one should it be?
Pokemon
Mario and Luigi
Sonic (Sega)
Legend of zelda
I personally think it should be legend of Sonic, because I am too attached to the other three, but I still like Sonic.

There games have become horrible compared to what they use to be.

I still haven't played Unleashed -_-
I chose Sonic - The last good Sonic game that I played was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (I'm not a fan of Rush! and Rush Adventure!)

Definitely Sonic.

Mario and Luigi would never be eliminated, simply because Mario is the mascot of Nintendo. Also, Mario games are just extraordinarily appealing for most (if not all) people.

Pokemon would never be 'kicked' out as it is considered to be Nintendo's "River of Cash". In other words, Nintendo obtains unimaginable loads of cash because of this franchise.
Now, moving on to fans, it is well-known that Pokemon fans are greatly numerous and 'loyal' in that they purchase and look forward to almost every Pokemon game released. This is clearly seen in the crazy purchases of the Pokemon games all around the world. The reason for such a great love need not be explained here, as it is pretty obvious.
(Note that both of the above franchises are considered to be the most major parts of Nintendo)

Now, for the last choice, I have no current 'facts' to support my opinion. However, I have noticed that people generally look forward to Zelda games more than Sonic games. Sonic games just decreased in quality over time. Not that the Zelda franchise is doing better (since I am not sure), but I do believe it is much more valuable to people than Sonic. (Me being one of the fans of Zelda, by the way)

Yeah I changed my vote to sonic because the more I think about it the more I think Sonic is the one.

Sonic's not a Nintendo franchise. SEGA's published many Sonic games on other consoles. The Rivals series, Sonic 06, and Unleashed were all on consoles besides the Wii/DS. I don't see why this option is up there.

Sonic has still been a staple in the Nintendo Community.

I would say M&L, since they're about as old as the simpsons, but there are still a lot who like it. So, I'll officially say Pokemon. Each game is just like the last (Which is true to all these series, I just think Pokemon needs to... *snicker*... evolve xD)

Well pokemon evolved from saving everytime you change the box and lots of other simple things to move as many pokemon as you want (but suffer the save time) and the wi-fi plaza and being able to trade local wireless or wi-fi battle or trade with like someone in another continent. (ningamer)

Nintendo never bought SEGA, they beat SEGA in a console war.

One franchise that I can definitely see Nintendo getting rid of to save money would be one of their lesser-thought of franchises, such as Kirby or Fire Emblem. Despite the great gameplay, not many people with a basic knowledge of gaming are aware of those games.

Never ever played Fire Emblem. Is Final Fantasy Ninty exclusive? I haven't played that either.
In fact, I'm not playing a whole lot of Nintendo at the moment.
I'm now edging towards the 360. I'd still pick up a DS for a handheld any day, but the 360's a better home console - when Project Natal is released, the Wii won't be able to compete. It's not that I don't like the Wii, it's amazing, but since I've got my Xbox 360 my Wii's been collecting quite a bit of dust

Kirby was pretty decent until they went 3d (Same with Sonic, Mario, and other side scrollers)

Kirby 64 isn't played in 3D though. It's in the same category as the Smash Bros. series: "2.5D", where the game is rendered in 3D but you can only move in 2-dimensions.

And because we're on that subject, I'll go on record by saying I love that game too.
