After five years, I have updated the Pokémon Fan Purity Test on Floatzel.Net with a bunch of new questions and removed/changed a few outdated ones.

If you spot any errors or outdated questions, or would like to submit your own questions, please reply with them.

If you take the quiz, be sure to reply with your score (number checked, total, and percent)!

Yay Charizard!

Pretty consistent with my scores from previous attempts many moons ago. A couple of things I would have checked years ago I can no longer claim due to major down-sizing of my game collecting hobby, but seems some of the other stuff from the last 8 years evened it out.

Errors:

"4.1: Did you have a subscription to Nintendo Power (US) or Official Nintendo Magazine (UK)?"

Didn't Nintendo Power shut down ages ago? Also does this qualify me to check the 2.32 option?

Suggestions:

There should probably be something dennō senshi porygon-related after 3.69

lol
"1.22: Have you ever smuggled a Game Boy to work or school and played Pokémon when you should be doing something else?"

It was a DS, but no close enough?

"1.25: ...Were your coworkers or fellow students jealous?"

I guess that's how you describe it when a bunch of 18-year-olds see you have a level 100 Magikarp?

"1.28: ...4 hours?"
"1.29: ...without a bathroom break?"

That's all? Lightweights.

"3.8: Have you made your own Pokémon hack or fan-game?"

Well . . .

"3.52: Have you ever posted a video on a major video sharing site (like YouTube) related to Pokémon?"
"3.53: ...Did it receive 10,000 views?"

What am I doing with my life.

"4.8a: ...a Pokéwalker?"
"4.9: ...Does it still work?"

One of my life's achievements is putting my Pokéwalker through the wash, taking it apart, soaking it in rice and then continuing to use it as if nothing happened.

"4.14: Do you own a piece of clothing with Pokémon on it?"

Does the thing I made in high school count?

"5.66: Have you ever wished you were in the Pokémon world?"
"5.67: ...Have you ever wished you were an actual Pokémon?"
"5.68: ...right now?"
"5.69: ...to escape problems in real life?"

STOP READING MY MIND

Anyway, I got 27%. Have to wonder what that would be if I didn't start playing as a junior in high school in 2012.

It did, at the end of 2012. That question was in the present tense earlier.

How many points? I estimated 130 for the list.

I still remember thinking I got into Pokémon itself late (end of 1999) and especially late on the main-series games (end of 2002).

The bizarre wording of some questions is likely due to the age of the original Mario quiz on SMBHQ, which came out in the late '90s. Many of the questions were about the NES/Game Boy and early Mario titles, and the Internet was nascent.

I think it was 127? Although it would be +1 more now with the Porygon question.

IIRC the last time I took this test was before I was even really into Pokémon. Here I am, having completed the National Dex twice now, and one Living Pokédex. I've come a long way.

I scored 259 out out 480 possible points, 54%. I am THE TurtwigX
