It's a bit restricted (North America only, August 13 through August 17 only) but for a few days here you can download a Heracross if you're playing Pokémon X and a Pinsir if you're playing Pokémon Y!

They both are level 50 and have set Natures (Adamant) and genders (female), but can have either of their abilities. The moves on Heracross are Pin Missile, Bullet Seed, Megahorn and Close Combat, and the moves on Pinsir are X-Scissor, Return, Stone Edge and Earthquake.

Pretty good competitively, I must say, in stark contrast to Vivillon!

Iirc they're doing another event for those on the 18th. I think it involves GameStop somehow (which probably means they're announcing pre-orders soon, too) and I've heard tell that there's going to be some sort of Pokémon Global Link/Trainer Club thing, too.

Oh, no Mega Stone? Not downloading, then. I don't understand the point of these semi-pointless distributes, but ok GameFreak.

Oh boy I'm stupid! I've been soft-resetting for Jolly Nature for 5 times through already… That's a shame, but still useful I guess xD

I've went and checked, and it looks like you should be able to download the Pokémon as long as your game's region is NTSC-U/C. (It doesn't care about your system's actual regional setting; so-called American 3DS units also support some locations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.)

*downloads Pinsir*
