I just discovered this (or finally found out ) myself: it appears to be possible to upload screenshots from Wii U games to services other than Miiverse, and at full resolution. Check out the attachment to see a sample.

Here's how to do it:

  1. First, fire up the game you wish to play and find an interesting OFFLINE scene of which you'd wish to snap a picture.
  2. Press the Home button and open the browser.
  3. Visit VR (or something like OneDrive/Dropbox if you don't want to post it).
  4. Add an attachment like usual by clicking Manage Attachments and uploading it.

Woah, that's pretty nifty. I used to upload them onto Miiverse, load up Miiverse on my iPad then download them from there.

Here's another sample, this time from Mario Kart 8. I still think it's a little convoluted when they really should've just given us a button on the menu to save a screenshot to an SD card.

Can we do this if we find a pic to share with people from google or something? Like if I saved a pic from google to my 3ds, would I be able to this to post the pic on the forums?

From the 3DS? Nope, you cannot attach things with the 3DS to Victory Road, as it does not support multiple windows/tabs, which the attachment manager requires.

I found out about this when they first announced it a long time ago. I can't remember exactly when it was announced, but it was a feature included in a system update. I even uploaded a screenshot of Pokemon Rumble U's title screen to my Image albums on this site as a test when it was first available.

The pic, for those curious:

Big image, and (maybe) slightly disturbing.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure you can still upload pictures to your albums from the 3DS, Kakashi.

Nintendo really need to work on streamlining the WiiU's GUI. I'm sure people would use this more if it was easier.

Thank you very much for this amazing tip! And with tears in my eyes I post this as my first usage! (Joy, of course.)

Congratulations, Nintendo, you have added screenshots to the 3DS without needing Miiverse...but it's the most useless feature you've added to date!

You can only take pictures of the home menu. It appears like this ONLY exists to gloat that you bought a theme (or to show off all the random stuff you bought on the eShop). If I attempt to take a screenshot of the top screen while software is suspended, I get this message:
Quote:
You cannot take screenshots of the upper screen while software in suspended.
C'mon...

Here, I'll share my own screenshot with you, Nintendo:
