The creator of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, and a staff of veteran Mega Man programmers and designers have set up a Kickstarter for a game called Mighty No. 9. This game is labelled as a spiritual successor to the Mega Man franchise, bypassing Capcom by going the indie route and getting funding directly from the public. The public has answered strongly, pledging more than $1.3 million in just two days.

What are your thoughts on this?

and it's better that Keji made this now more than ever since he technically doesn't own Megaman and knowing Capcom wouldn't do ANYTHING with him.

My heart is with you Inafune. Though I hate Steam this is one thing I can't avoid. If it makes it to one of the consoles they're attempting to reach then that'll make it even better for me. After Capcom's inability to treat their own character right it makes me glad knowing that the creator still believes, despite the legal boundaries.
