Roland, the company who pioneered the MIDI standard in 1983, put together a short presentation of how the standard has changed how we think of music over the last 30 years and will continue to do so in the future.

Thanks for showing me this, LugiaDialga!

Pretty amazing how such a simple technology is used in so many areas of music (and even outside of music).

As much as I think Midi sounds are silly and like to joke about them, Midi is a VERY important part of music history and should be respected by anyone who enjoys music or makes it of course. It's amazing that it's been with us for 30 years now, wow! And look how far it's come too in this length of time. I cannot wait to see how Midi continues to evolve in the future.

FL Studio uses MIDI for practically all the features you use to remix.

As simple and primitive as MIDI's can be alone, I still like them. They're also quite versatile, too. I can remember those MIDI's I made a few years back, and even though they're older works of mine, I still think they hold up very well now. As a guy who likes retro sound boards/soundchips, I'm very happy to say MIDI's have held up for around three decades, and are still going strong.
