Have any of you unknowingly bought or almost purchased a bootleg game(s)?
I almost bought a fake Pokemon Ruby from a guy on Craigslist over the weekend. Luckily I was able to spot the differences and told him that it was fake (its label wasn't hollow and Nintendo misspelled on the back). He said he didn't know it was a fake copy and apologized.
1 – JDxImpetusI NEARLY bought a counterfeit Mario Galaxy game, until i noticed the seal of quality was missing
1 – GalliumGrantI accidentally bought a bootleg copy of Pokémon Emerald 2-3 years ago at GameStop. It figures the ONE time I forget to check is the one time I actually get one. My first tip off was when I put it in the system and got a message like "Your save has been restored". I took it out and sure enough the label wasn't shiny and had a low print quality. The main board also didn't have Nintendo on it and didn't look right. I took it back and they had like 4 more bootleg ones there as well.
Around a month or two ago, my brother purchased fake copies of Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, AND Leaf Green. We eventually learned that they were fake, and the seller said that we could keep the games as well as a full refund (But now they're gone, and I'm stuck with the Sapphire).
I have a counterfeit Wii game. And that was Pokemon Battle Revolution...that wasnt the best day of my life. When I transfred my Pokemon in the game, save the gam, and battle in the game it crashes. I made a big mistake on transferring and lost all of my Pokemon in Diamond. I was crying for about an hour for all of that hard work. :'<
1 – GalliumGrantI don't have any bootleg games on me at all. The only 2 things I have of that nature are movies. (Man are those terrible. I thought all they did was point a camera at the movie screen.) But I did once play the end of a pirated Earthbound just to experience the fatal Giygas pirate block. Oh what fun~!
I've never bought a fake game by accident because I always buy my games brand new from GameStop and sometimes Target. (Never Wal-Mart, I fear something bad might happen there.) Never used, but the one time I did get a used Ruby for my birthday, it still had the official seal on it. Because of this I'm not really cautious of what I buy.
1 – GalliumGrantI unknowingly purchased a Pokemon FireRed from a flea-market. I knew something was up with it but couldn't quite point it out despite the obvious chinese sticker on the back that I couldn't read and the front Charizard-sticker was actually completely different when I compared it to a friend's store-bought copy. Not only that, but it also refused to work when I wanted to trade pokemon on it to Gale of Darkness, even though my Ruby traded with the Gamecube fine. That was the final clue I needed to confirm my suspicions.
I have a sudden hatred for counterfeit sellers now.
