Okay, so as most of you know by now, our beloved Brock is no longer in the Anime. Here's why. The execs (who are asian) thought that Brock would offend the American viewers because he looks like a stereotypical asian... Seriously? I mean really? Everyone I know who has ever watched or played Pokemon is white. So Asians removed a character because they thought white people would be offended by asians being racist towards asians? Is this making sense to anyone else?

This is from the Bulbapedia.

"Interview with Hidaka about Brock's short absence from the anime
There had been some debate between members of the fanbase in regards to why Brock was removed from the main cast during the Orange Islands arc, why Tracey Sketchit was created, and why Brock returned later. In an interview with former Pokémon anime director and storyboard artist Masamitsu Hidaka, he stated his own reason why Brock was removed from the cast and why he eventually returned. He (or, rather his translator) revealed that the true reason they replaced Brock is because, once they realized Pokémon was going global, there was a chance that Americans, if not anyone else outside of Japan, would view Brock as a racist stereotype because of his eyes (even though there wasn't an actual complaint yet). So they created a "tall, anglo-saxon looking person to be on the safe side". They later replaced Tracey with Brock again once they realized that no one really cared as to what Brock looks like, and actually enjoyed his character. However, this was only stated by Hidaka and not by any other staff member."

Well the concept of a show being rasist or stareo typical is a big issues. For companies its more an issue of the fact they can get sued over it or something. I'm more inclined to believe that or they thought new characters woudl be for the better in the shows.

But did anyone really know he was asian? I actually thought he was black.

Yeah, the publicity of Pokémon being racist doesn't bring back money to the company, so they better avoid it. I think they removed Brock because they faced a problem in the first generation, when they introduced Jynx. It was a chaos when global viewers claimed it was racist. They pronbably didn't want to face that again. But as this staff, nobody even cared or thought about Brock in that way.

No. I think Hitler driving a tank painted with swaztika's with a Klansmen legion into Nigeria is a tad bit racist. A kid thinking brock was black is normal.
