I like waking up naturally a few hours before my alarm goes off and realizing I can still get a little bit more sleep. It feels amazing!

The same happens to me; I've always woken up ahead of my alarm. But I've always had an irrational fear of loud things, i.e. my alarm clock. So if I turn it on, I tend to subconsciously wake up early in order to be able to turn it off and not deal with the loud noises. That usually involves me getting up, so one of three things happen:

a) If it's too early (4:00 AM or earlier) I'll go back to sleep.
b) If it's fairly late (4:01 AM - 5:30 AM) I'll try to stay up until 6:30 AM, when I usually get up.
c) I might accidentally fall asleep and then not wake up until 7:30 AM.

I've always found that I've always been able to wake up before my alarm somehow. Even if I have to change my alarm to like 3:00 AM to catch an early flight or something, I will tend to wake up just before. Usually happens, anyway.

I never wake up before my alarm clock. Thankfully, I don't sleep through it either. Though I need to set up 2 alarms, or else I fall back asleep.
I'm heading off to Edmonton in 2 weeks. I'm so excited to go to Edmonton mall! Anybody up for an indoor amusement park? I haven't been to Edmonton for a long time. There was an amusement park inside the mall when I was in Quebec too, but this one is bigger, AND has a water park. :3

1)I tend to fall back asleep after waking up normally, but usually do wake up before an alarm clock if it's set. That 2 alarm clocks thing is a good idea.

2)I've been to the Edmonton Mall before, it's really cool. Alberta can be pretty warm during the Summer, though, but of course the water park will probably solve that problem too xD

The only indoor Amusement Park I've seen is the one in the Mall of America the biggest mall in the country but it was more of a kiddie park with a Nickelodeon theme.

Lately they've been opening a lot of indoor water parks here in Connecticut also.

So it's basically like Mall of America except in Canada.

I'll have to go to Wikipedia to see who ripped off who.

EDIT: Mall of America opened ~10 years after Edmonton. I accept defeat in this battle.

What's maple syrup?

Anyone notice that maple syrup is nearly nonexistent and it's not called "pancake syrup" everything is now made with high fructose corn syrup.

Yeeeeeeah! Go Canada. I know you guys get something before us apparently, and have better events sometimes (why the heck to the VGC not even have ONE qualifying event in Canada?!) but it isn't much that I care about. Take Black Ops for example, I think you guys got it like 2 days earlier. The guys at my school were complaining (it's two days guys, live with it), but I really couldn't have cared less. Also, back to the mall topic. Fortunately I live almost right across the Canadian/US border from MOA, but the same country as Edmonton mall. :> And I've never been to MOA mind you. :<

HO. LY. ARCEUS.

It's been months since I've made a post on this thread.

So anyways, I got my schedule for the new school year.

Semester 1

Pd 1 - German II
Pd 2 - Honors modern US history
Pd 3 - Fitness 10-12 or Word (which I've heard is one of the easiest courses)
Pd 4 - Academic mythology and composition (which I've heard is one of the awesomest courses)
Pd 5 - Genetics (one of the few pd 5 classes that are actually hard) or Art history

Semester 2

Pd 1 - Drawing/Painting II
Pd 2 - Powerpoint (which I've heard is the easiest course) or Weight Training
Pd 3 - Honors Physics
Pd 4 - Calculus
Pd 5 - History of New York or German literature

Weight Training. What the flip. I took that class last year and I don't plan on taking it again. I just wanted to take the generic 'Fitness [insert year here]' class and get my last required phys ed credit. I have to email my counselor to get this fixed... hopefully I can just replace both of my pd 2 classes with Web Development.

I wish you the best of luck with that! I've got an awesome solo on Marimba in our first movement. I haven't been this much excited for marching season since freshman year, and I'm a senior now. Funny thing is, I was about to quit because it had gone downhill fast junior year, but when we lost a lot of trouble-members, the quality managed to go up, despite our numbers being halved. I LOVE being a Division III band!

*fangirl scream* We're a Division III band. But my 8th grade (marched as an 8th grader) and freshman year we were a Division II band. Anyways percussion rocks and I love you in a band nerd way

I'll be the first to pick a Division III band over a Division II band. It's much easier to have control over with one-on-one work easily attainable, not to mention that the judging in competitions is actually much easier.
Does your band perform for ratings (Good, Excellent, Superior) or in a competition against other bands with rankings of 1st, 2nd, and so on? We play for ratings.

Hm. Yeah, we're only concerned about how our band does for whether or not we qualify for the State Festival. I'm thinking it's likely we'll finally be able to get an Excellent again this year. The last time that happened was my Freshman year, then we had a dry run of nothing but "Good"s, which does not qualify us for State 8'(.

Seriously, though, yeah. It's really sad, I know. We've gotten a Superior once in the band's history, and I wasn't even in the band at the time!
Our high school isn't entirely highly-populated, though, so we can't afford to be exclusive. I don't see that as the only reason, though. Up until this year, I felt a laxity in leadership and control over the band. Nobody really had the motivation. That's all changed this year, though.
I honestly don't think getting Excellents will be very hard to get anymore, but they were in the past. Impossible, moreover.

But speaking of band camp, I have decided to march this year, as opposed to playing keyboards last year. I hope my band directors perfect way of teaching drill is perfect...

I just wanna switch to the school I was originally going to go to. Nearly all the people I've known since first grade are there. My family used to go there and I've heard the teachers are great.

I have reasons, but I'm lost in trying to approach them about it. I get nervous and all tense when I think about it. /:

From personal experience of trying to talk to my parents and not being able to say what I was intending on saying, I know what you're going through.
I would suggest writing it down, then reading what you wrote to them. If they ask why you're doing this, tell them that if you can't get the point across otherwise. I think they'll understand.

The flight back to Dubai was a lot of fun, what with the array of new movies, TV shows and CDs that you could check out. All in all, summer 2011 rocked! <3

So, what did I miss while I was away? Hope everyone's been having a good time (unless you guys started school, which must suck I suppose ).

I'm taking my road test this Thursday, but I'm probably gonna fail it.

You'll do fine. Everyone thinks they're gonna fail it but then it turns out to be easy!

Glad to see you're back. Now get working. The game room needs sweeping after Dewott spilled her juice everywhere, cat needs watering, the ficus needs feeding, and there's a tiny bit of a zombie mouse apocalypse in the attic.

Seems like I'll need some back-up from the "Clean Sweep" people.

Well, LA is pretty sick! Except, i have never seen so much weed in my life. I thought walking at the venice beach pier would be nice, but man was I wrong. Soo many medical weed, hobos, hobos doing weed, and a bad smell of incense.

You should go to a music festival if you think that was bad!

A place where a bunch of random people play a certain genre of music. But the music is not guarenteed to be good music. There are also weird street venders (ie one of them was selling toe rings). Almost everyone I've seen at it was holding a beer and it was crowded.

I prefer concerts to music festivals for that reason. One of my friends wanted to invite me a hippie festival, but I didn't want to go for that reason. Plus the fact that I have to stay overnight which means my parents wouldn't be thrill of me going. Went to American idol concert and I have a good time. I am not a big fan of American idol, but I like some of the singers that shows up in the tour.

A lot of people do a lot of drugs and traditional concerts too. Pretty much every indoor concert I've been to people find a way to get their drugs in and smoke up. Even when smoking inside public buildings is illegal here... Though I've been to a few REALLY small shows in really small bars and usually it doesn't happen there.

Nice. I'm a fan of American Idol since season 8, and the latest season was really exciting (excluding the linearity of the judges). I wish I could go to the tour...

Today was the first day of marching band camp. Last year, I was in the pit (playing xylophone). But this year, I decided to march on the bass drum. Today, we went over marching basics, then went inside to practice the music itself. So, the only time I got to sit down today was at lunch. My feet hurt... I have to hand it to everyone else, it's harder than it looks!

Now for the bad. There's this annoying freshman. He plays the saxophone (which already sets me off a bit, we have too many saxes in our band program). He thinks he owns the place, he doesn't take marching seriously, and he's just a bother in general. I know I shouldn't be talking about him like this after only one day of watching him and I really hope that my attitude towards him changes. I didn't get a great first impression, is all.

And there's my first day of band camp

I actually did have to pay for it, he forgot his wallet at his house

But I did get a score of 10 on the practice run, which is good considering I got a 65 on my first practice test.

Second day of Band Camp.

It went pretty well. At first, we did some ensemble things, then split into sectionals. Winds went off to do their thing and snare drums and the drumline captain (who plays the tenors) had their sectional. That left the four basses and the four pit members. Us basses are all the most musically smarterer, so we worked one on one with each member of the pit. I ended up helping my sister play her keyoard part.

Speaking of which, I am INSANELY proud of her! Just a few weeks ago, she was musically illiterate. Once we got the music, I started helping her learn her part. Now, she has almost all of the first song memorized (after only two days of band camp and another sectional this past Sunday).

After that, we had more ensemble work, then marched for the rest of the day. We have one more day of learning how to march, then Thursday is when we start to go over drill (for non-marching-bandees, we're going over the shapes we have to make on the field).

The guy who I didn't like yesterday, I still don't like him. Neither does anyone else (out of the people high up on the band ladder [talent and leadership-wise] and their friends [who are also pretty high up]). Not a good second impression.

I got home today and, like yesterday, I'm sore!I'm done talking now...

You can't go to California and not expect weed. It's what makes California, man. Also, I think you were high when typing this. <3

Ugh, surprisingly this is the first time ever I'm not actually looking forward to school. Not even a bit. -.-
I thought having nothing to do all summer would make it go by slower.
