I got Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and Worms Reloaded Game of the Year Edition on Steam for a grand total of USD 12.72. Aren't Steam sales wonderful?
1 – TwiggyGot a $25 Amazon gift card that I used for the following:
- Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar (Genesis) - $19.99. Also known as Thunder Force IV outside of the USA.
- Game Genie for Sega Genesis - $5.99
- Bolt drivers for Nintendo's star-shaped security bolts - $7
The order used up the entirety of the gift card, and so I only had to charge $12 to my Visa. ![]()
And it's strictly for things like Amazon and other online retailers that I would ever use my credit card.
Edit - January 5, 2013: Both orders should be here by Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Hopefully the Game Genie will get here first so I can test and/or repair it before Lightening Force arrives.
Got a system-only Sega Genesis model 3 online for $6 shipped. It was reported that the system wouldn't power on, but cartridge-based systems are pretty simple to repair. That being said, I now have all three models of the Sega Genesis.
The model 3 wasn't actually produced by Sega, but by Majesco and retailed brand new for $50 (even went down to $20 as the next gen came out). This was released as a budget system, and as such is missing things such as the expansion port/cord connectors for the Sega CD/32X (it doesn't even have a LED to show the power is on, just a orange sticker that is exposed under the power switch). That being said though, it's a pretty cute small system and still compatible with 99% of the regular Sega Genesis library.
EDIT: Heh, the system didn't look like it would power on at first, but I found the AV plug is a little tight and the cable needs to be pushed in a bit harder. System works perfectly
6 – alternateshadow300, TurtwigX, Cat333Pokémon, Twiggy, LugiaDialga, SaigonI got Pokémon White 2 and Pokémon Blue.
3 – Velociraptor78, Cat333Pokémon, Saigon- Pokemon LeafGreen - $3. The game's shell is somewhat cracked, but the game is functional.
- Genesis 6-Pak - $0.50. This was originally a pack-in with the Sega Genesis Model 2, and it features Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, Columns, and Super Hang-On. Mainly bought it for Shinobi and Streets of Rage.
1 – GalliumGrantTime for more game shopping!
Today, I picked up the following for $46:
- Pokémon Dash (DS), a bad game
- Hard Drivin' (Genesis), very bad game ![]()
- Raiders of the Lost Ark (2600)
- SNES instruction manual
- Star Fox instruction manual
- Pokémon Puzzle League instruction manual
- Third party Memory Card 507 for GameCube (had to be third party)
All I got today was a manual for Stunt Racer 64 (in very good condition) for $5. Did I mention because the game is rare (didn't have a retail release, only available as rental from BlockBuster) this manual is worth about $150-200? Yeah, you can probably guess what I'm putting on eBay later this week. ![]()
Also got a tablet (may as well mention it here since it will mostly be for games). It's a Sanei N77 and was $73 shipped.
2 – Cat333Pokémon, GreenManRecently I got Kirby Superstar and Battletoads for a total of $40. Today I got a Gorillaz Singles collection (2001-2011) and some Doctor Who Character Building blind bags.
1 – TurtwigX
1 – GalliumGrantAhh, I finally got some games~
Some gifts
2 – Saigon, GalliumGrantEarlier I won an auction on eBay for a complete Japanese copy of Mario Kart 64 for $22.49 shipped. Amazing how cheap Japanese games are in comparison to their US counterparts.
3 – GreenMan, Cat333Pokémon, Magmaster12I grabbed Dragon Quest IX: Sentinel of the Starry Skies yesterday for $13. Pretty good deal for a game that has so much replay to it.
2 – RaytwOST, Reuniclus|
Amazing how cheap Japanese games are in comparison to their US counterparts.

Had a gift card to Wall-Farts that I finally got to spend today! It was a SUPER hard decision between OoT and this game but I came home with Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance~! <3333 I am a hugeee gigantic KH fanatic nerd, so I am so happy I even get to play this game at all! It's my first 3DS game I've bought~ :3
So like I'm going to be offline pretty much playing that tonight
5 – GalliumGrant, RaytwOST, Shade, Seiji J. Konokama, ReuniclusI finally got my return back, so I bought a new video card for my PC. It came with a copy of Assassin's Creed III for free.
1 – LugiaDialgaHad a "fateful encounter" with some rarities at my local swap shop:
- M3DS Real (flash cart) - $5.
- Game Boy Pocket - $25
Both items were in excellent condition when I bought them. I will more than likely use the M3 to emulate older systems, use homebrew audio programs, and to play video game music.
1 – LugiaDialgaI got Pokedex 3D Pro! It was a bit expensive, but I'm having fun playing around with it.
1 – Cat333PokémonAt a garage sale last Sunday, I got a phat PS2 (with LEGO Star Wars II still in it) with a PS2 controller and two PS1 controllers for $7. Everything works fine, selling the PS2 on eBay right now, should get ~$30-50 for it.
Then at Gamer's Paradise I got a new 72 pin connector for my NES ($10), an Atari 2600 power supply ($10) and Guitar Hero 5 for the PS2 (complete - $3). I also got a cheap ($1) copy of Madden 2000 for the N64 just so I can take the back half of the cartridge to put on my Japanese Mario Kart 64 when it arrives.
Edit: Oooh, my complete Japanese copy of Mario Kart 64 arrived in the mail. I'll put up a pic later.
- GameShark for the original Game Boy - free after I traded in a couple of DS games that I rated M for "meh" XD
- A second Game Genie for NES - $5. Hopefully this one will work unlike the first one I bought.
Edit - February 23, 2013: Both video game enhancers are confirmed working. As the Firebat from StarCraft would say, "Slammin'!"
After work today, I drove to Gamestop and got these things:
Picked up the small game To the Moon on steam when it had a daily sale deal going on. Played through it, was a generally pretty good experience- not typical, but instead a nicely done story driven game.
...Outside of video games I'm buying Magic: the gathering cards in order to assemble my first two real decks, which has proven quite fun indeed to see appear in the mail, add straight into the deck and then playtest.
A couple of days before it released, I pre-ordered "Bit.Trip Presents... Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien" (yes, that's the full name of it) on Steam for $13.49.
Gabe Newell, you need to give a raise to whoever came up with the idea for the Community Market because it made it possible for me to get B.TP...R2.
Alright, I'll try not to make this too incredibly lengthy, so I'll give highlights of the purchases I've made from the past few months before I get into my most recent buys.
Wii VC: Megman3, SMRPG, Metal slug, Paper Mario(ClubNint.), FFIV: All awesomesauce.
Christmas stuff: I split the price for a black WiiiU along with Nintendo Land and Mario U for Xmas, CANNOT wait for mah Pikmin3. As for games, I got Sonic generations, Kirby's dream collection(<3), NSMB2, Nintendo Selects Pikmin 2, Paper Mario Sticker Star(I personally hate the new battle system, but that's just me), and Xenoblade Chronicles for the holiday. I'll admit, however, I haven't really played Xenoblade yet... *Puts flameshield on*
Most recent: Thanks for the eshop VC, I bought the first two megaman games(Megaman 2 is best evar). And yesterday, I just picked up my first Castlevania, LoS: Mirror of Fate. I haven't gotten a chance to play a lot, but I've been enjoying it. Not a fan of the intended delaying stuff, though, I've died a lot from it. However, I am mad at IGN for the 4.7 review. I don't think it deserves the rating whatsoever. Oh well, at least most other reviews have been saying its a 7 or more. I'd personally reccommend it.
After I'm done with this one, I'll probably be searching for a Metroidvania-type game, likely for the DS. My next planned purchase will probably be New Moon, looks like a lot of fun. New Leaf also looks beautiful, can't wait for that.
Anyways, sorry if this was terribly lengthy.
1 – TurtwigXIGN? Please, don't make me puke. Their reviews are incredibly biased and should be taken with a molecule of salt.
2 – Eagles, Cat333PokémonTechnically, this isn't a purchase, but I did wind up trading a couple of unneeded Game Boy games (Wario Land 2 and my spare copy of Pokemon Silver) for either Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, or its colorized 1998 version, Link's Awakening DX. I went with the DX version, because it obviously can be enjoyed on both monochrome and color Game Boy systems. Plus, I should be able to use it with the GameShark I found late last month.
I also got the newest Humble Bundle. In addition, I just ordered a complete Japanese copy of Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense for the DreamCast for $20 shipped. Two Japanese imported games within a month, not bad ![]()
1 – Seiji J. KonokamaGuess it's technically not a purchase, but rather I acquired (my father purchased them but now gave them to me since he has other copies on other systems), my own copies now of Psychonauts, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus all for the PS2~! <3
2 – Eagles, GalliumGrantMy most recent purchases include Fire Emblem: Awakening (love it, recommend it to all 3DS owners) and Cave Story (the downloadable 3DS version). I also got Kirby Super Star from Club Nintendo a couple weeks ago.
1 – TurtwigXI got a few things from Gamestop today when a few of my friends and I went to the mall.
I got Assassins Creed Brotherhood (my friend recommended that I buy this one since I've never played an Assassins Creed game before), Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (This one was a bit expensive :<), a new Super Smash Bros Brawl disc since my current one is badly scratched up, a $35 eshop gift card, and a used Kingdom Hearts 2 disc (my current one is badly scratched up too).
2 – GreenMan, EaglesI picked up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate today. I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I'm really looking forward to playing it.
1 – EaglesI'm just gonna leave this here in advance, I'm going to get Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon(SICK reviews, so far!) as well as Kirby Air Ride and Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland for Easter/ my birthday. I'll edit this to see how it goes.
2 – TurtwigX, ReuniclusMy complete copy of the GTA IV Special Edition for the Xbox 360 I got for $31 shipped arrived in the mail today. The Special Edition comes with a nice GTA IV metallic lock-box (with two keys and a Rockstar logo keychain), Rockstar duffel bag (still in original wrapper), soundtrack CD (featuring a song from each of the radio stations), art book (featuring lots of development screenshots and concept art), and obviously the game.
Comparing it to the PC version I've spent countless hours on, seems a little duller and less sharp in the graphics department and I need to get used to using a controller instead of keyboard+mouse. Also apparently the Xbox and PC versions are considered different games so I get to unlock all the achievements all over again for free points
.
2 – Cat333Pokémon, GreenManTraded in a couple of unneeded NES games in return for... Tekken 2 for PS1. ![]()
However, I can't seem to get either my PS1 or PS2 to read the disc, as it's pretty well scratched up. But knowing how much I love taking on DIY projects, there should be no problem in finding a way to repair it with what I already have around the house.
Stupid Kansas City area weather, keeping from getting the new Mystery Dungeon today. On the bright side, I got the Japanese version of Pokemon Trading Card Game (Pokemon Card GB in Japan) for Game Boy Color while at Kansas Pokemon State Championships yesterday. It came with everything but this. It's amazing what one can find for sale at that location.
2 – Reuniclus, Cat333PokémonWhile not really my purchase, my mother purchased a Model 3 Genesis and a couple of games for $10 from an estate sale
1 – Yoshi648I traded in some old games I never played and got $64 for them, which I promptly used to buy like 40 DVDs. I also got a reproduction NES with a SMB-DH-WCTM compilation cart. I might start looking around for NES games so I have something else to play sometimes.
2 – Cat333Pokémon, Yoshi648Well I went to Gamestop earlier today to buy a few things like Gates to Infinity and Dark Moon, but they were sold out. :<
"Sorry David, but your games are in another store."
I ended up buying a used PS2 and memory card.
HOWEVER, the cashier suggested that I try going to Best Buy or Target, so I decided to try going to Best Buy. When I got to the store, I immediately saw Gates to Infinity on the shelf, so I picked that up, and there was 1 copy left of Dark Moon. I was really lucky. :3
2 – Cat333Pokémon, TurtwigXI got a PS1 (model 5501) with official memory card, AV+power cables, and 6 complete games (Big Air, Bloody Roar, Cool Boarders 4, Jet Moto 2, Tomb Raider III, and an Interactive Sampler CD (a bunch of playable demos/videos) volume 6 all for the price of nothing. One of my sister's friends didn't want this anymore and knows I am into collecting older video game stuff so said I could have it.
This now brings me to 4 PS1 systems.
1 – Eagles
Finally managed to pick it up. I also renewed my GameStop Power Rewards card.
3 – Eagles, PHANTOMxTRAINER, TwiggyWent to two thrift stores today and got the following for about $30
1 – Cat333PokémonWell. Imma let this picture explain it all
3 – teamplasma, Cat333Pokémon, Velociraptor78I just recently bought a silver Game Boy Advance in mint condition that came with the charger, a Hip Gear GBA case and a GBA-GBA link cable for $25! I also ordered a new Pokewalker from Nintendo's online store, and finally I bought a GBA-GBA/GCN link cable!
DLC Quest
Alien Spidy
FTL: Faster Than Light
Fable: The Lost Chapters
1..2..3..KICK IT! (Drop that beat like an ugly baby)
(yes that is the name of the game)
Drunken Robot Pornography
(yes, that is also the name of the game, and no, it's not what it sounds like)
Cave Story+
Snapshot (with OST)
Brutal Legend
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD (with the Revert Pack, which contains Metallica members James Hetfield, on vocals, and Robert Trujillo, on bass)
*checks the eshop* Usual stuff here, usual stuff there, I still need to get mega man thr-CASTLEVANIA ON THE 3DS?! Instant buy
Edit: So as for an update on my bday stuff, Luigi's Mansion
ark Moon, Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland, and Kirby Air Ride are all AMAZING.
I beat Nightmare in Dreamland in like a few hours(easy, but amazing game), Kirby Air Ride is so much fun and I feel like I could easily become addicted to that game. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is also great because of its attention to detail, as many others have already stated. There's also a chance I'll be getting Pandora's Tower on release as well as Final Fantasy Origins for PSP pretty soon, to start off m play-through of all the mainline Final Fantasy games in numerical order.
Just like many other people here, I recently got Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates To Infinity! This might be overdone by now but I count more than ANYONE else since they're my favorite games in the Pokémon franchise and I am its biggest fan. It took long enough to get it, but now I can just sit down and play it for hours and get lost in the majesty...
2 – Cat333Pokémon, Luxray13579I got a Gameboy Player for my Gamecube! So hi-tech. It's got a little springy-switch thing that you can use to launch your games across the room!
I also got Banjo Kazooie, all boxed 'n everything, for £15. And Luigi's Mansion 2 for my birthday!
3 – Yoshi648, blueumbreon, PureAuroraeTraded in a couple of unneeded Game Boy games for the Super NES version of Street Fighter II. At long last, I have a fighting game to use with that Super Advantage gaming stick. *faints*
I also spent a whopping $2 on getting the rubber TrackPoint cover replaced on my old IBM ThinkPad, which is by far the most I ever spent on restoring the 16-year-old laptop. XD
Well it turns out that today was the shipping date for Pandora's Tower so now I have to wait until tomorrow to get it. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Oh well, I'll just play Kirby Air Ride, Dark Moon, or download Super Metroid off the virtual console(Club Nintendo) while I wait for it to arrive for the Wii U. Still, though, what a shame. And what's worse is that the game case isn't even coming in black >:U
Not directly gaming related, but I did pick up a small CRT television that I will use for gaming (everyone knows CRTs are better for older games).
It's a RCA 14F514T. It's got a 14 inch flat screen, stereo speakers, built-in TV tuner (that I did manage to pick up 5 channels with using just a paperclip as an antenna), two sets of composite inputs, and one set of component inputs.
$6 from GoodWill
Pic of the set
Pic of the set playing Yoshi's Island (SNES)
Edit: Got Surgeon Simulator 2013 for $7 off Steam
2 – Cat333Pokémon, GreenManI picked up Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky for $13 today. Thought it was a pretty good price, and my EoT went through the wash and doesn't work anymore. Thought I'd get the best one of the three.
1 – Cat333PokémonFor the Wii's VC: I bought Super Mario 64 using Club Nintendo coins. Love that game! ![]()
From the 3DS eShop: I got: Super Mario Land 1&2, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, and Need for Speed: Nitro-X. Everything for $21.
1 – EaglesJust got Worms: Revolution through Steam's 50% off sale while the game's multiplayer is free this weekend. If there is one series that I think needs more recognition, it's Worms.
EDIT: Add Ridge Racer: Unbounded to my list of purchases. Steam Sales, why must you show my wallet no mercy?
Got Surgeon Simulator 2013 for $10 off Steam
I also on Thursday Picked up the newest Mystery Dugeon game and have been playing that over the weekend. Games hooooo
2 – Yoshi648, Cat333PokémonTraded in Goldeneye and Jet Force Gemini for Excitebike 64.
I know, Goldeneye is a great game, but I never actually got into it, and I admit having been spoiled by great-looking first-person shooters on PC, PS2, and Dreamcast. Jet Force Gemini was just terrible in my honest opinion.
Funny thing about Excitebike 64 is the fact that people want over $100 for it on Amazon. And to think I paid for it using just two N64 games... ![]()
I can't decide between Fire Emblem Awakening, Luigi's Mansion, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon this is very hard for me.
1 – EaglesThis doesn't count as a video game purchase per se, but it is video game related in a way...
With hopes of creating my own AV cable for my Sega Genesis, I bought a 6-ft MIDI/DIN cable at RadioShack for $10. As I have some spare DIN-5 inputs from an old switch box, I will not modify the cable itself, because I figure I can use the same cable to tinker with MIDI feedback on my keyboard. All that's left to do is confirm that all five pins match up on each end of the cable, and to track down a wiring diagram so I can have a proper AV out cable for my Sega Genesis.
EDIT: The improvised modular video adapter was a successful build. Golden Axe looks just lovely without all that interference from the temporary Composite Out mod that I used prior to today.
I recently got Terraria and Halo 4 (on console), and I got Ruby version. If anybody has a link to buy a GBA:SP, and a link cable PLEASE post it on my profile! I'm trying to get a 100% legit Pokedex in Emerald. BTW sorry if this is breaking a rule, I don't remember, and will delete this if Cat or someone wants me to.
1 – Cat333PokémonI bought.
-Devil May Cry HD Collection (Which i'm kinda addicted to) $24.99
And
-Jak and Daxter:The Precursor Legacy (Thus Finishing the original PS2 Trilogy!!!
)
1.99 (and it works Perfectly)
1 – Seiji J. KonokamaAs of now, there is a limit of 100 posts per page.
