Amber pulled out her phone. "If you need to call anyone, just use mine." She handed Chris her phone and proceded to say, "There's no need for me to have it."

"No, it's... it's complicated." It seemed like Chris didn't want to explain something.

Meanwhile, Jess seemed to be reading a text message. When she put her phone away, she seemed panicked. "Alright, I gotta go. Now. I'll meet you at the first service station in South Carolina." She got in her car, started it up, and took off as quickly as possible.

"Well, alright then." Amber left the conversation as is and sat in the seat quietly.

(Absol gets out of purgatory in a couple of weeks. If we make slow progress and be very conversational, then we might just be able to stall it for long enough)

There was a pause. "I still have no clue how she found me," Chris said, "I know she's in a pretty big gang with a lot of connections, but... still."

"That why I asked her before how she found us. If she could, couldn't others?" Amber got a little closer. "I mean, if one can, all can, right?"

"I think I know... her gang has pretty close connections with the mob. The mob knows everything we're gonna do before we do it. Jess pretty much has access to all of that. Or rather, had access."

"Had?" Amber flashed a look toward Chris. "What do you mean had?"

"They know she's here, and they wouldn't exactly be fine with it." Chris paused for a moment. "Think about it, wouldn't her suddenly appearing at the same place where we are be a little suspicious?"

"Very suspicious. I mean I don't know Jess well enough to confirm this, but I would assume there would be an ambush at that first gas station. That would be logical."

"Yeah. For all I know it could be legit, but... god knows what tricks the mob have up their sleeves."

"I mean we could go an alternate route, but if time's an issue that wouldn't be beneficial."

"There is actually a faster route, but it's more dangerous. There are several interstate changes, and it goes through Cleveland and Detroit."

"Hitting up in those cities are fatal for us. I mean it's your call though."

"Well, let's just say that I don't want to go to Detroit again."

"Let's take the original route then."

All of a sudden, four men came jumping down from somewhere above; it happened too fast to notice where. "Damn, and ambush!" Chris grabbed his gun, which he happened to still have on him.

(What happened to keeping it conversational for Absol)

Amber pulled her pistol as well. It was still loaded thankfully.

(I was bored and I figured that having a fight with just the two of us involved could also work)

Chris, on the other hand, had forgotten that his wasn't, and when he tried to fire, he was out. One of the men - knowing that Chris was already injured, opened his door, pulled him out, and slammed him against the wall. Chris dropped his gun. The man then kicked his legs in, causing him to fall to his knees, and put a gun to his head. He yelled to Amber, "Make one move, and I shoot!"

(Absol came up with an idea for being able to post by PMing me the post and then I send it though. Kind of defeats the point of purgatory but as long as it goes by someone I'd say it's still fine)

Absol:
(Look at my last post, you two have to choose a free weapon."

Just then, Silver came down to the garage. "Whoa whoa, Easy! Calm down man, they're cool!"

Amber was in a panic but remained still. She glanced to Silver thinking, "Oh my god! If they hurt him, I will hurt you."

Absol:
"Heh, calm down Sakura. Don't use your genjutsu just yet."

As a unit, the men stepped away, but kept the the stern looks. The one with the gun, apparently named Easy, didn't flick the safety off.

"I'm taking these two lovebirds"-here Silver and the men made a joking face- "to someplace safe. You guys are in charge while I'm gone. No ****ing each other's girls, okay? We don't want any more drama. I got enough already. Ya got my email and number if anything happens."

NismoZ:
Chris was still on the ground, in too much pain to get up. He was breathing heavily.

Amber rushed to Chris's side. "C'mon. Lemme help you up." She got down to try to get him up. As a sincerity thing, Amber also extended her hand as she squatted down.

NismoZ:
Chris took Amber's hand and got up, leaning on the car for support. "Ah... god, this really ****ing hurts now."

Amber grabbed around his waist and put his hand around her neck. "You can use me for support. I don't mind."

Absol:
Silver said his byes and helped get Chris in. "Got the guns, got the food, let's go."

"Amber got in and immediately turned her attention to Chris. "You okay?" She looked at him with an extreme sincerity.

NismoZ
"If you don't count the pain I'm in, then yeah."

"Where does it hurt?"

NismoZ:
"My head, mostly."

Amber pulled out some painkiller. "It's the best I can do right now. Is there anything we need?" Amber handed the bottle and also pulled out a water bottle.

NismoZ:
Chris took the painkiller. "We have more than we started out with, so I would say so."

"What?" She glanced around then focussed her attention back to Chris

"When I woke up, I noticed that Silver was packing stuff into the car. By the looks of it we've got more than enough. Anyway, let's hit the road."

"Alright. I assume we're going through South Carolina?"

Absol:
"If I may, I live in Alabama. There's another safe spot there, and plenty of people who make it easy to go to Mexico or south-um...er...more south? Farther south. Whatever."

NismoZ:
"We were heading north, but okay. Just be sure to avoid Florida."

Absol:
"Noted."

Silver peeled outta the driveway. He put on the radio. "Now THIS, THIS is the good **** right here!" Linkin Park, Faint blasted out of the 2 18" speakers in the Jeep as it did 75 mph towards Bama.

Amber glanced back towards Chris. "Hey look, I apologize for not being much help. I don't know much about combat."

NismoZ:
"Yeah, don't mind it. I always get myself hurt anyways."

"That's not exactly what I want to hear come out of your mouth."

Chris chuckled. "But it just happens." He turned his attention to the current situation. "So, suddenly going south again will catch the off guard, but... you never know what information they can get."

"The more we change up, the less chance they have of finding us."

Absol:
Silver interrupted. "You two! Always with the talking. Y U NO ENJOY LIFE WHILE U CAN? Try it sometime."

NismoZ:
"You know, it's a little hard to when you're almost constantly in danger. You don't know how much we've been through since... last night."

Amber ignored Silver. "Chris, how's your head?" Amber put her hand lightly his chin to move it around in order to see.

"Still hurts pretty bad, actually. But it's getting better."

"You need to rest up. That'll help."

Absol:
Silver turned the radio up.

"I still think You should get some help."

NismoZ:
"I can't get help when we're on the move." He sounded offended. "Look, I'll try and stay out of immediate danger for the time being, okay?"

"I will, and don't get mad at me for caring about you. Besides with the right stuff, I could fix you right up." Amber got closer to her side. She was concerned about Chris's health more than her own safetty.

"Alright, alright, fine."

Time: 6:43 PM
Location: Near Clanton, AL

Chris got Silver's attention. "Hey. There's a town coming up on the next exit. Maybe we could get something to eat there."

"I agree. I'm hungry."

Absol:
"Awwright Awwright Awwright, back in the Heart of Dixie! This is where the magic happens. There's a Holiday Inn over there, and the fast food shops are like, 15 minutes from here. Y'all wanna go eat out, or just check in with the hotel and room service?"

NismoZ:
"I say we eat and then get straight back on the road. I don't know where we're going but at this point we can easily get there before nightfall. Assuming there are no complications, at least."

Absol:
"Fast food it is."

"Sounds good." Amber looked round at the stores

NismoZ:
(Now, I'm gonna base this vaguely upon the real-world location. According to Google Maps, the town of Clanton, Alabama and its surrounding area contains a KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Pizza Hut. Take your pick.)

"There's a Pizza Hut. I opt for that."

"I'm fine with that. Silver, you up for that?"

"It's kinda up to you, Silver. You're driving."

Absol:
"I am. But you may not me. You do know that Pizza Hut is more of a dine in restaurant? Takes about 20 minutes for your food?"

NismoZ:
"And what's that you said earlier about enjoying ourselves?"

"Contradicting yourself, Silver?"

Chris chuckled. "Okay, but in all seriousness, there's something that's been worrying me." He looked behind. "There's a pickup truck that's been following us since somewhere back on the interstate."

"Silver, can you take us some really long, tedious route to see if he continues to follow us?"

Absol:
"um sure. If they try anything funny, get the guns."

NismoZ:
Once Silver had turned off into an alleyway, the truck didn't follow. "Huh," Chris said, "I want to say it was a coincidence, but I still have the feeling..."

"It's probably not a coincidence, but we can't stay here." Amber looked around attentively. "Can we back to the interstate without taking mainly traveled roads?"

"There's generally only one way on and off the interstate, and when we get to that road, they'll pounce. Assuming that they won't beforehand."

Absol:
"There's always the option of being backseat drivers more quietly. Now shut it for a second and think. When was the last time you saw even a scout for the Mob, which are supposed to be inconspicuous, in a beat up two seater pickup with glass that clearly isn't bulletproof? Whoever they are, they aren't mafia. Now getcher weapons ready, and that's it. Jeez."

NismoZ:
(I'm planning on getting a new character soon, which means killing my current character. >:D)
"Hey, if there's anything I know, it's that a beat-up truck is about as inconspicuous as you can get here."

"Just get us back to the interstate, Silver." Amber looked around the area. "Was is the quickest way to the interstate?"

Suddenly the pickup came up in front of the Jeep, as well as another identical one from behind. They turned and stopped, blocking the alleyway on both sides. Chris ducked below the windowline. "Alright, this time I'm staying out of it!"

Amber looked toward Silver and drew her gun.

Absol:
"Dammit Chris...Amber, thank you for helping. If they start shooting heavy, get down. I don't want you dead." Silver gunned it, aiming straight for the unexpected: a rush out of the alley.

NismoZ:
(dammit, didn't you read? They blocked you from getting out. If you crash into one of them, you crash)

Amber shot at the men relatively aimed. She may not have had fighting experience in close combat, but she she did have good aim.

(I just came back from watching the Hunger Games, so I'm in a violent mood... remember earlier when I said I was gonna kill my character? Next few posts. Just wait.)

Chris's door was opened, and he was pulled out. He tried getting his gun out, but as he fell on the ground, he dropped it. The man picked him up, and put a knife to his throat. He got the others' attention. "HEY! Try and escape, and I kill him!"

"Don't you hurt him!" Amber stood frozen in fear for Chris. She set down her gun and stood up slowly. Then Amber said, "We don't want trouble."

Absol:
Silver shot at people.
(o.O no.idea what you're doing)

NismoZ:
The man holding Chris didn't let down his guard. "Either you're lying, or you and your friend here aren't exactly on the same page."

Absol:
Silver stopped shooting at people and raised his hands up.

NismoZ:
"Good." The man let Chris go. Chris nervously walked back to the Jeep. "Although, you know, you will all have to die." The man picked Chris's gun up from off the ground and shot Chris straight in the back of the head; instantly killing him. He aimed the gun at Amber next and pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed. "Dammit!"

"Chris..." Amber was so upset her voice quavered barely over a whisper and her eyes teared up. Quickly in anger, Amber grabbed her gun off the seat and fired blankly a single shot. She took in the sight of Chris's bloody body and whispered, "I'm so sorry for everything." Amber again fired another shot blindly.

Amber managed to take out the guy who had shot Chris. The drivers of the trucks started talking to each other through walkie-talkies.

"We've got one of them; you think we should leave and come back when the others are at their weakest?"

"Sure, let's go; I'll meet you back on the interstate. Southbound."

"Sounds good to me."

The trucks drove off, leaving Amber, Silver, and Chris's body alone.

Absol:
"Hrrm hrrmm. Hmmm." Silver sat on the front of his heavily armed Jeep, twiddling his thumbs, telling himself not to cry in front of Amber, and wondering what to say.

Amber started to tear up more. "I..I think we s..should g...g...go." Amber couldn't help but shutter. Her voice tapered of off a little, and she wiped some tears away.

NismoZ:
Gunshots started ringing down the alley, then the sound of a car getting closer. A Mitsubishi Lancer came into view, and someone got out...

(and now to introduce my character in the form of a character form)
Name: Ryo Watanabe
Age: 21
Personality: Ryo is rather laid back; he lives in the moment and doesn't care about the outcome of anything. He believes that it's always possible to improve a situation. However, in combat, he gets serious.
Background in the mob: Ryo was a bounty hunter.
Appearance:

Amber looked at the man who stepped out. "Are you going to kill us? Just do it if you are." Amber was done with fighting. Chris's death was her awake moment.

"I'm risking my life to help you guys. Be grateful." He turned to Silver, and examined him for a moment. "I've heard about you."

"I'm sorry. It has been kind of whirlwind. Not quite sure who to trust." Amber looked skeptically at Ryo.

"Yeah, well, push your luck and you'll be dead as well. After all, it was the reason I was sent out here."

"So you were going to kill us. Why aren't you now?"Amber was being critical like she always was.

"Because there's the occasional person in the mafia with limits. I'm not killing a couple people who are already having a *****y time trying to get away. You guys deserve some help."

Absol:
Silver sighed and put his gun to Ryo's crotch. "Listen I don't care how old you are, I don't have time for ********. I don't need it. I DON'T NEED IT. I HAVE ENOUGH. Amber, shutup for a second. Now you. You're gonna tell me how you found us and why you're here or say Sayonara to your Asian balls."

NismoZ:
Ryo was clearly getting annoyed. "Okay, you wanna know how it works?! We're almost constantly being given a run on your location once we're sent out. In truth, it takes a long time to find you. I told you why I'm helping; you guys deserve it, and I've been getting sick of the mob lately." He turned away and drew his katanas. "After all, I have every reason to kill you. Like I said, be grateful."

Absol:
"You'll forgive me for not believing anything you're saying."

Silver got back in the car. "You comin', Amber?"

"Sure." Now Amber kept mouth shut. She really didn't want to be killed.

"Oh, by the way..." Ryo put his katanas back and offered his hand to Amber. "I'm Ryo."

"Amber." She shook his hand and smiled. "Pleasure to meet you, I think."

"Now, I don't know where you guys are going, but I can just follow you." Ryo got back in his own car. "I assume you're heading back onto the interstate?"

"Actually we are, but I pretty damn sure Silver's car's been detected. Mind if I catch a ride with you?" Amber looked sincerely at him. "Please?"

"Oh, why the hell not. Hop in." In truth, he was just out of a relationship that he hated, and was looking for someone else. Amber might just be the one.

"Thanks." Amber hopped in to the front passenger side and pulled out her gun. She reloaded and stuck the gun back in her boot.

A relay of messages came through what appeared to be some sort of radio on the dashboard.

"We're all in position except for 14. Where you at?"

"Hold on, I'm coming. I bet they won't be leaving for a couple minutes anyway."

"Yeah, well, hurry up! We can't take the risk."

"If you have all this set up, you make it impossible for us to escape. However, how much does it take to find our positions?" Amber had curiousity to no end. However she probably could use any information to her advantage.

"Once they've got details on the car, it's not hard for them to keep track. I'm pretty sure they don't know I'm working with you yet, but soon enough it'll come clear."

"Thank you, by the way. This is really nice for you to do." Amber looked at Ryo before coming to a conclusion. "Wait, if you're going to your position, would they see us?"

"If they don't notice you in the car, then we'd be able to get past without them going after us. The Jeep, on the other hand, we're gonna have some problems with."

"Okay." Amber gulped and tried to calm down. "Silver's not going to give up his jeep though."

Another message.

"Okay, let's drive them out!"

All of a sudden, two cars appeared in front of them. Ryo turned around as quickly as he could, and gunned it to get out if the alley. Suddenly he noticed that Silver had been caught up in the fighting. There was an explosion. That was the last of Silver.

Amber turned to Ryo. "Why am I the last one?" She back some tears and asked, "What's gonna happen now?"

"I don't know how it all went wrong so quickly. We could turn back, but after what's happened that'd be taking a huge risk."

"Just drive." Amber really didn't want to be caught and this moment.
