I, for one, welcome the new Mega Pokémon and am looking forward to using one in battle.

Maybe, even they'll get around to fixing some past Pokémon with the Mega treatment. Oh wait, they already did!

Excitement rising...

Uhhh...I'm also indifferent to the Mega Evolutions.

There's just something I don't like about the possibility of having 4th evolutions- if this actually IS a 4th evolution (from what I've read, a hold item might turn a pre-evolution into a Mega one).

Still...I can definitely see this having a negative impact on the metagame. I can already tell that MegaBlaziken and possibly MegaLucario will be banned from standard play. Also, if these guys have Mega Evolutions now, does that mean Eviolite will work with Ampharos, Mewtwo, Blaziken, etc.?

While on the topic of MegaLucario, it has an amazing ability, but I don't think it looks as nice as a normal Lucario. My only complaint about Mega Evolutions is that the Pokémon look a bit overdone in terms of artwork.

I'll also laugh if they add MegaYanmega to the list.

Mega evolutions remind of Digimon for some reason, but I do remember seeing something similar in the Trading Card Game, specifically Level X cards, which were placed on the final stage of a Pokémon to power them up further.

Took awhile for me to warm up to the new EVO's to be honest. Like, they went "Ey, Lucarios spikes are pretty cool, so we added like, 50 more of em!"
but I have a gut feeling mega evolutions won't be blatantly better then the original competitively so we'll have the choice to choose what form better suits are teams. Just a hunch, but i'll wait and see. I really do like the new Lucario evolution though. Mostly because of all the sweet fanart and junk coming out already. <3

Now then. They look great and sound great.

But if they are actual evolutions then I definitely don't like that. I hope they are just super strong battle forms.

I'm more interested in how these new Mega evolution will effect the meta game, it would be amazing if it had to be changed completely because of these mega evolutions.

If Mega evolutions require hold items, then they may not be as broken as people are making them out to be. The loss of items like Leftovers and Life Orb can keep Pokemon in check, which can already be seen in the current generation based on how Eviolite made Pokemon useful but still manageable.

Personally, I'm a fan of them. It adds a new aspect to old Pokemon without requiring straight-up evolutions, and should definitely add a lot to how the games are played. Plus its pretty neat to see Pokemon dressed to the nines.

MegaPokemon will need a hold item and will only activate during battle. Don't worry, they're not THAT broken, but then again.. Giratina-O is still a beast in ubers.

I'm actually glad that there's an item clause in battles- it'll prevent the Mega Stones from being completely overused.

I meant I had saved all my pokémon copied from Platinum on it to battle with, but when I deleted the file, those pokémon were now in White so I had no way of getting them back into BR. I don't like the Rentals, so it's basically dead to me now.

Based off recent videos it looks like only the battles have 3D but not the over world.

Finally, I just pre-ordered Pokemon Y. Less than a month away...

I'm marking it today at 4:10PM on Cartoon Network, first time I saw a commercial for XY

I've seen people complain about how this is the same game in 3D. My rebuttal to that is that Ocarina of Time is basically a Link to the Past in 3D with a different design of Hyrule and some different items. It even has nearly same amount of dungeons if you count the Ice Cavern and Ganon's Castle. I'm not sure whether people ranted about that back in the 90's (I was a little baby at the time) but hypothetically speaking if people didn't complain about that then why are they complaining about Pokémon doing the same thing the 'masterful' Ocarina of Time did. Also they're doing stuff that fans have been wanting for YEARS and yet the unforgiving fans are still whining.

Here's a bunch of new info through recent interviews.

- The overworld is noy in 3D but battles will be.

- Pokemon get experience when you capture the Pokemon is was fighting.

- Kalos Pokemon will not be getting Mega Evolutions. 

- The Pokemon Center is still combined with the Pokemart, but it also contains an area to customize your trainer's appearance.

- There are a lot of Pokemon from previous gens that will appear in the tall grass or flowery patches across the region. Pidgey, Caterpie, Pikachu, Zigzagoon and others were mentioned by name. Wild Pokemon encounter rates will vary depending on the color of the flowers you're walking through, with some Pokemon being exclusive to some areas. 

- Masuda has also confirmed that they are not trying to make the goal to capture every Pokemon, though this does not mean you're not gonna get a reward for doing so.

- You can run from the beginning of the game because Masuda says people in France move very fast. 

I did notice that in the video serebii posted that they were battling at lv100. I wounder/hope that the auto-level system will return on here so i dont have to level up all my pokemon to 100 just to battle online with others. Plus it sucks that kalos pokemon wont get mega evolutions.

Just under two weeks, everyone. Who's excited?

I am relatively un-spoiled. I've seen more than I would of liked, but it couldn't be helped in those cases.

I am VERY pumped for X and Y. The next two weeks of waiting are going to be torture. As far as spoilers go, I'm going to try and avoid plot-related spoilers, while allowing myself to see any newly revealed Pokémon. But otherwise...

AGGGH I HATE WAITING.

I personally don't care to much about getting spoiled too much.

I want to learn more about the new features and pokemon so I can keep my interest and keep my hype up for when I get the game.
If I go into the game not knowing any of the new features it would be incredibly overwhelming and confusing for me.

I certainly don't want to spoil myself though, when we start getting details about stuff like the plot and other new legendaries then I'm more then willing to stay far away.

But really I see all you no spoiler people as obsessive-compulsive and incredibly paranoid.

I mean seriously there are going to be over 100 new pokemon and most you can't even let yourself take a better look at one?

1 more week to go! Pretty soon im going to go crazy cause i hate waiting for new games to come out. Plus my pokemon are starting to boring, i just finished pokestudios and got some pokemon with them stars to jump out of them.

Oh, I've got a question. I've been ignoring all the leak material, so hopefully someone who has browsed through it can answer:

How big is the manual? Do we get a proper booklet or a silly "getting started" sheet?

People usually want booklets as collectibles rather than actual manuals. And only 5 days left, tomorrow! Gettin so close

Booklets are important for them newbies at these games.

You know i read on twitter that new york did somekind of special release event. That could explain alot.

Wow! I went to GameStop today to finalize my pre-order, and I inquired about Pokémon X and Y pre-orders. They said they had received at least 200, not counting people who ordered multiple copies of the same game.

I got a text message from Gamestop earlier reminding me to finalize my payment at 10 PM. Looks like I also get a 30% bonus on trades (if I actually had anything to trade).

I'm quite excited for tomorrow night; I might end up meeting with one of my friends so we can get our copies together.

First thing we should do when we our copies (and get far enough) is to see if they put the wifi's auto-level back.

In 2-5 hours this will be mine! Huzzah, shops who deliver early!

I hear that hiddenpower got nerfed, now its always a 60bp (base power) move...i guess no more 61-70base powers.

Oh yeah, I did overhear that they released a patch nerfing a few moves. (It's hard avoiding those kinds of spoilers when news article titles contain the spoiler.) Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam lost 5 base power each, I think.

Hidden Power is now a locked damage move? Is it still a "random" type based on IVs? I remember that mechanic being crazy since it was introduced.

Y'know, has anyone yet figured out the huge question: have they done anything to nerf/simplify the mess that is IVs (which can flat-out make most Pokémon completely useless competitively)?

1)Max ivs in-game too?
2) So ivs are like the simulaters now?
3) Hiddenpower type based of max wifi ivs as well? Or maybe not..

That means if we want trick room to work, we need the natures to sort of minisize the stats a little like use quiet/sassy/relaxed/brave.

Well at least now people that never battled over wifi before (like never battled in a real wifi battle, not a for fun one) can do it now. Lol maybe u can even give a try now cat?

I have no idea on the status of natures. It's difficult using the search feature on forums, and I'm not going to browse through thread titles due to possible massive spoilers. (Seriously, all it takes is a single word like the champion's name to kill it, because once you see him/her in the game you know you're looking at the champion.)

I did build a pretty good team in Gen V that pulverized the first two gym leaders here. (If anyone wants to have a battle against it, I'll definitely transfer it forward to Gen VI.) I don't know if I want to reveal anything in it, but I'll just point out that it's weather-based and likely to be nerfed somewhat thanks to the five turns thing, but I can always stick Sunny Day on one of the Fire-types.

Yeah but the 5 turn auto-weather actully makes it fair now. Now if excadrill returns to sandteams in gen 6, i dont have be scared of being sweeped by it like i did when 5th gen started out. Plus i dont use auto-weather pokemon all that much, im more of a non-weather team battler.

Oy, sad to say it, but I think the IV/EV things posted above may be bogus.

It looks like I'll be picking up my copy of Y tonight. The game's sold out everywhere in Singapore, but good thing I pre-ordered my copy of Pokémon Y, so I can get it anytime, anywhere.

I think I'll do it after dinner, before 9:30 PM, which is the store's closing time.

It's just so beautiful. Even at just the beginning, everything looks pretty good.

Don't forget to pick up that special Torchic through the Mystery Gift, though. It has Blaziken's megastone.

On my way to the 2nd gym town right now. It doesn't exactly have the Pokemon feel yet, but it's still awesome.

The cries certainly seem redone. Also, saving is incredibly fast!

Only problem with it is the auto sync (which I personally have disabled). It's pretty quick at home, but I'm absolutely sure my school Wi-Fi will confuse it. (It requires viewing a page in the browser and clicking "I accept.") Said Wi-Fi already confuses the eShop, making it difficult to download games at school. I wonder if that will also disable it connecting to the Internet all the time, as I don't want it hogging my battery except when I ask it to.

Oh, a comment on the Pokémon Bank. I'm kinda glad it won't be out until December. That way we get to play legitimately before all the cheated Pokémon can be brought forward. I also saw a comment that Nintendo would be preventing most hacks from coming forward, so I have no idea how powerful their sanity check will be.

Strangely... this game doesn't feel as powerful as the other ones. I guess I just have to play through more of it. Which I'll do in school when I'm with my friends.

The battle graphics simply amaze me... but it's weird how they only allow 3D during that portion and cutscenes. No wonder the 2DS was released today, too.

I'm also kind of perturbed how this game doesn't have a real intro. The letter Y looks nice, but... we can't get anything else as an attract screen? Not even something simple like the Nidoran fighting the Gengar?

Okay, it looks like they upped the censor too. It won't let me put in "Slave" and you can't bypass it if that specific combination of letters is included. So much for HM Slave... But hey, they extended the character limit to 12!
