Hey guys, I might be getting an iPhone. Its because before, I could walk home within 20 minutes of school or take the bus for 10 minutes away. Now I can't take the bus 'cause I'm on the outskirts of the city and I can't walk/bike it would take me a good 2-3 1/2 hours. So altogether that means I'll need something to contact home if I need a ride (which I need all the time).

Well the school is a math academy. They post a difficult math question on their website and if you answer it correctly, you're ENTERED for a CHANCE to win an Ipod.

Chewing tabaco has come pretty common at my school also.

It's hard to do underage age drinking at school when you're not aloud to bring water bottles because some people are stupid enouph to want to go to school drunk.

You aren't particularly keen in grammar, either, huh? Mathematics is the most consistent and important category of information in society today. Nearly all jobs will use advance mathematics at some point or another, while the following (and far more) use it half-daily:
1. Stocks/Money Markets/Banking/Finance
2. Sciences Involving Astronomy, Physics, Geology, or Genetics
3. Computer Programming and Computer Security Analysis
4. Crime Scene Investigation
5. Carpentry, Engineering, and Construction

Thats easily more than half the 40K+ jobs right there.

The city I live in (and for the most part Minnesota in general) frowns heavily upon smoking - no one does it to be cool, everyone thinks its not. I really have come to respect my peers for their maturity in the last two years.

The JHS and HS in my city both have very lenient dress policies: essentially, as long as nothing is hanging out, you're fine. Jeans are the number one item of clothing where I live (worn by about 95% of students on any given day, if you include Jean shorts).

Huh? I didn't see alot of grammar errors; my extravagent and pompous rant seemed ok. It's just that one has to really question how useful certain aspects of Math are useful, and as I said they should still offer these more complex classes to people who want to further themselves in arithmetic. Much like they don't require you to take a Science class every year in high school, but people who are interested in it do it anyway.

What's with the math hate? Math may well be the most useful subject that schools teach aside from English, because math is used in everything. Even if you don't plan on becoming an Engineer/Programmer/Scientist/etc., you'll find it valuable in applications such as personal finance, political discussion, and general problem solving. And if you absolutely despise it, you can at least stop at collegiate-level Algebra at most secondary institutions.

I second that because it is 100% true.
I enjoy doing math in school because it has a lot of varied aspects/topics in it, requires different levels of thinking, and is extremely helpful in everything in your life.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Emerald is one of the best Pokémon games. Love the plot, love the cities, love the originality, and just love everything about it.

(although I must admit that Emerald's Frontier isn't as fun as 4th Gen's.)
That reminds me, if you do credits for your emerald walkthrough please mention me since I'm the one who gave you the idea.

Its more useful than you think, but from my experience, it has very little (if any) geometric use (to rephrase, it is useless as I was taught it). I'm going more in-depth in Algebra II this year, and what I'm learning is quite profound (I'm about a chapter ahead everybody else, so my class isn't there yet):

1. Nearly all engineering and carpentry fields will have consistent use of it.
2. Trigonometry allows much more advanced examinations of circles and (x,y) graphs, not just triangles.
3. At the higher level (so maybe not what you're learning), it is incredibly important to astronomy and physics - how light bends and stuff like that.

8th grade? I remember learning from the same (or different revision/year) book. As I said above, what is in that book is useless plain and simple. It touches the surface but simply doesn't go in-depth like it should, such as the unit circle.

I've been playing emerald for my (8th?) time the past few days - although 5 of those were on ROMs. I'm using my old DS Lite, but haven't gotten far.

I can't argue you there. It was one of the best, if not /the/.

I agree with FreezeWarp that middle school-level Geometry is taught in a way that isn't very useful. Too much time is spent making constructions with protractors and such and in plugging numbers into and memorizing formulas. Trigonometry and pre-Calculus provide a much better treatment of it in my opinion

Well he did know what he was doing, just that they didn't make a pre-detrermined price or check off the internet. I am sad I didn't get the Meganium and Typhlosion ones, they had 'em there.

If I change my profile to say I'm a girl, will I turn into a girl?

Mag: Graphic novels are comic books.

Anyways, I'm going to take a break from this forum to cool off. Maybe about a week. I still need to finish my graduation project by (supposedly) friday.

Hard? It /should/ be impossible since statically the recession isn't even comparable to the depression. Seriously, my family currently has not a single car working - we have to walk to the store two miles away, and yet I still know my grandmother went through much worse.

I agree, I did that once when my mom and I were in Paris, France waiting 3 hours for our plane. I had lots of entertainment because I had my really small REALLY awesome radio controlled car. I would drive near people at their feet and they would either:
a)Scream b) Laugh c) Not notice d) Run or e)Scream, laugh then look at me with the controller and laugh more. I think I brightened many peoples day, including mine.
