Going on a new forum is hard. It's so awkward and stuff. Like it's so much easier to talk to people in real life. But going on a new forum? It's so intimidating. It's like going to a new school. Stuff is tough man. Stuff is tough.

You'll probably get used to it sooner or later. Find anything you like to talk about? Since this is the general conversational thread, well, almost everything is good here.

Oh yeah, of course. It's the new part that's hard, but once I'm not it'll be just... yeah, used to it all. Thanks for responding!

And oh man kakashi, that sounds just terrible! It sucks you had to deal with a whole week and now even more. Man, good luck with that. My sister couldn't talk for a whole week after getting hers pulled. Maybe it was two, I forget. Stay strong brudda.

All I can say is good luck. I had mine pulled back in 2011...not a fun experience at all.

Actually I remember VR still had the on-site chat room back then...man, it's been a really long time, now that I think about it. I still can't believe I've been a member here for over five years now. Wow.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth dug out in . . . when was it . . . summer 2010, I think? It was great. The surgeon tried talking to me about movies after injecting anesthetic, and then I spent the next eight days eating yogurt and scrambled eggs. And then a few years later my sister got all four of hers taken out, and she was home and annoying me before I even woke up that morning! Thanks, life!

Good luck, though, either way it's really very not fun to have stitches in your mouth. Can still feel where mine used to be sometimes, some how :P

Thankfully I havent had wisdom teeth, or any teeth pulled for that matter. I had fillers, but thats about it

As far as non-teeth related stuff, open house for school is tommorow night, and school officially starts the 24th. I can confirm for being unexcited about it. I cant sleep in all day? No to all of that

I read on facebook from them Pokemon Global News guys that on thursday last week boston police arrested two people trying to go to pokemon world championships and start shooting. But its a good thing they caught in time, who knows what would have happened.

I have gone on several angry tirades on this already, and I'll try to keep this one . . . reasonable. Saw this last night and it took me like an hour to wrap my head around it.

"Pokémon."

"Weapons."

"Pokémon."

"Weapons."

Why are those words even in the same thread as each other? Is there now a competition to be the very worst, like no one ever was? Travel halfway across the bloody country just to do . . . what, again? No, no, no, no, no, .

THIS is why we need to put a ban on guns the size of a barracuda. Excellent coverage of it here, warning, guy uses bad words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs4avfA7NCM

Also did I mention this before? NO. NO. NO.

Still going to Magfest, by the way. I need to go watch Sesame Street or something for a while now.

I've looked into this one a bit and they never explicitly stated tat was the plan. All one of the guys posted was they were ready for Worlds and they took a picture of those two guns on the back of a car. Not to say that this is excusable. TCPi took the right action. The players also got slapped with a lifetime organized play ban too.

I wouldn't take offense to restructuring the gym league.

I do have an X/Y theme set to admin-only with Xerneas navy and Yveltal maroon for colors, but it didn't turn out so great. Perhaps I'll initiate a revival when Gen VII or another big game rolls around.

How about picking up potato chips on Super Bowl Sunday or Thanksgiving, or eggnog on Christmas Eve? I've had to do all those. I'm surprised how many stores and restaurants are open on Thanksgiving nowadays. It used to just be pharmacies and Denny's.

Sometimes when I get bored from sitting in the zero-mile-per-hour traffic on the Interstate, I picture some random dude playing one of those train hopping arcade games on the roofs of the cars around me. :>

Also, I just realized this, but has anyone else noticed that the 3D effect in Bravely Default is actually really good? I think I'm actually going to have it turned on for the rest of my game.

Seeing as one of their pranks this year ended up not just being glitched out, activating when you didn't intend it to, it also happened to take the place of a commonly-used feature... and ended up having real-life consequences...

Yeah, I think Google will be a lot more restrained next time around.

So I have this one chicken. She's almost nine years old. And laid an egg yesterday anyway. (For those of you who don't do chickens, the ones who laid the eggs you bought in the store were almost certainly younger than two.)

Chickens.

Huh, I wonder what would cause spontaneous oogenesis. I remember seeing a reproduction documentary that used chickens to demonstrate the finite number of ova that most reproductive female animals (including hens) have at birth, which are ovulated after puberty.

However, I found this recent stem-cell study, which challenges that notion:

Probably something to do with the fact that she didn't lay eggs every day earlier (only like 4-5 a week for a few years, then pretty sporadically after that). The stem cell thing was interesting, though.

So, has anyone else played Bravely Second yet?

words
So far, I like Second better. I like the way the dungeons have a bit more dimension to them, should keep them interesting for a while longer than they were in BD1. (Ironically, the secret dungeon in BD1 did a REALLY GOOD JOB at pointing out that the only real difference between any of the dungeons in the game was the tilesets that they used.)

I'm also liking the plot a bit more, though that might be because it's easier to follow now that I know how BD1 ended. Yew seems kind of annoying, and his habit of being a complete wimp except for when it's convenient not to be hearkens annoyingly back to my complaints about Jurassic World, but I like the rest of the characters enough so we'll see.

So I'm bored. I just watched the rest of my anime. I can't believe Eureka Seven is exactly one episode shorter than Full Metal Alchemist, but I'm not complaining about that.

I just had a rough appointment yesterday because people were giving me a hard time on ***** and I would never want to see them anywhere on forums with me again. They cause trouble. Seriously. I have a hard time getting some peace of mind.

So I was working on an essay on Romanticism and I just realized that I unconsciously inserted the term "primal reversion" into the essay many, many times.

Have I been playing too much ORAS? I've been playing too much ORAS.

Oh, that's okay. It's worse when you're talking with investors or shareholders and realize halfway through you're using a very similar-sounding word that means something completely different, all because you've been playing a video game.

So I'm currently playing through Pokémon X in Italian, with no idea what anyone's saying. Was hoping that I'd kind of be able to get the sensation of being in another country of a language that I don't speak, but it turns out that Pokémon X is straightforward enough that I don't really need to know what anyone's talking about in order to get by :/

That, and the fact that I've already played the game four or five times since it came out. Eh.

Considering you've been around for a while, I think you should be fine as long as you don't make a habit out of it or something.

You've been trying to get this thing off the ground for a while, no?

Earlier today, it was 130 degrees Fahrenheit in the sun (and 113 in the shade, which is where the temperature is typically taken). Yes, that thermometer has been calibrated.

It's also nearly 100 degrees out, at 12:30 at night.

Discovered something interesting about the Panasonic typewriter I acquired a couple months ago: I read on the box of my replacement ribbons that the "ink" is actually carbon based, so I got to thinking, "If that's carbon based, might I be able to use a pencil eraser to make corrections?"

I remembered that, in my drafter's toolbox, I have a number of soft plastic erasers, so I pulled one out and attempted to "erase" a little bit of text from the page I was working on. By golly, the text lifted away as if I had written it with pencil.

On another geeky note: with help from the USB-to-IDE/SATA adapter I bought awhile back, I was able to get my old iBook to recognize the SATA hard disk I pulled out of my Lenovo before upgrading to an SSHD and Windows 10. The old hard disk was formatted as Mac OS Extended (HFS+), which allows me to transfer 900 GB of data from the iBook (running Mac OS 9.2.2) to my Intel iMac (running Mac OS X 10.10.5 "Yosemite") and back again, unaffected by the drastic differences in the Macintosh operating systems. I could not, however, boot the iBook from the external hard disk, and I suspect that Mac OS 9.2.2 doesn't support booting from HFS+ formatted external hard disks, although I was successful in booting from a USB flash drive using the same filesystem and OS.

Erasable typewriter? Now all we need is a typewriter that types in invisible ink, revealed only by applying lemon juice.

It kind of worked, actually. I was able to "erase" some of the typewritten text with the plastic eraser, but it really just faded out the text. I'll see what happens when I attempt using my AC-powered motorized eraser (assuming I can find it).

EDIT: I've conceded defeat at attempting to "erase" the text from one of my typewritten test documents. So much for that experiment.

Finally back from Nationals. Had a great time, apart from a rental car snafu that leaves me seething still. Didn't make day two for TCG but I didn't lose a single round for the first 5 rounds. Was still a great experience that I'm looking forward to again next year... Hopefully back at Indianapolis next year... 'cause it's a shorter trip |3

So, finished Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Apparently it has an early reputation for being "really shiny fanfiction" or something, but while it had its weird parts (and some scenes I'd argue are completely unnecessary) it was still worth my time.

It's in play form, btw, so it reads way faster than most 300 page books.

Also I'm not going to consider it canon thanks to their interchangable use of Flipendo and Depulso.

Play form? That's rather bizarre for the series. On the other hand, maybe they wrote the film first?

"Really shiny?" Are you talking about Twilight or something else?

No, I haven't read it yet, but I did enjoy the Harry Potter films. (I have read the first three books, though.)
