Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I'm tone deaf while trying and failing to make music?

I prefer listening by a long shot, anyway.

DEFINITELY a bad thing. Unless you're Beethoven-pro, a good ear is needed to make good music. I only got into making music BECAUSE I loved listening to it so much. It just made me happy, so I decided to try my hand at making some sweet tunes. Of course, I stay in the safe uncomplicated land of 8-Bit and Paint Composer, but yeah.

It's December now, whoo! And this is STILL relevant! Now December~ Found the looove that we shared in September, oooh! Only blue talk and love~ Remember, true love was shared todaaaay, heeeeey! Winter just makes me smile hard like no other season, so I'm glad it's here. I should start working on my Christmas picture, I plan to make is special. Maybe even open a thread for art showcasing...

Dude, you wouldn't even believe what I'd do with a Portal gun, even if it didn't shoot real portals that really allowed me to travel between two points in space. Still, that's awesome and have fun with it.

Today in Newtown, Connecticut, there was a school shooting. A truly horrific event, as we all know how deadly and random these school shootings can be. So far, 27 are confirmed dead.

But...what makes this so senseless...so heart breaking...

18 of them are children.

The school shooting was at an elementary school. I can't imagine the grief and anguish the parents of these families are having to go through right now. It's been confirmed that the shooter took his own life after his rampage...what a coward...and they are still investigating if there was a 2nd shooter or not.

When I got home from school today after taking my AP English final, I was told that another shooting took place in Connecticut. My parents had the TV on in the kitchen and this is what the headline said: "Connecticut Elementary School Shooting, 27 dead, mostly children."
I was horrified...not just because it was a shooting, but because children who had a future ahead of them were killed. Seriously, what the heck is wrong with people!? I've seen terrible crimes before, but this is just plain heinous, and I can only imagine how the parents of those children feel right now.

Ignore them - these are the same people who think shutting down the internet is a perfectly good way to help slow down the flow of crime and don't think of the negative effects that will result from cutting video games from the public.

It would be like if you cut wheat from food suppliers - sure, you have what you need, but somehow everything just seems terrible.

For or against, I am not a fan of politicizing anything. Gun control or not, same thing probably would have happened. The better method would be finding a way to prevent such a crime from ever happening.

I have to admit the I am incredibly sick of all the coverage of the shooting that has happened, yes it was terrible, but there's only some much of this depressing tale that I can put up with. I've moved on, I've tried to find out what I can do as a person to make sure this never happens again but it just keeps popping up over and over again like I'm expected to be depressed or upset 24/7 I mean I still feel remorse for the victims but there's just more in the world to care about then just a terrible event we all just have to move on.

I know Quad pretty much already said this, but I'll say it too. You aren't a bad person. You are a person who has had enough of the depressing media coverage and is ready to move on with your life. I can say that I'm starting to feel the same way myself. I can't go on any website or tv channel without having to hear the news, and it's starting to get on my last nerves. Of course I feel terrible for the victims and their families, but no one wants to hear about such devastating news constantly. People not directly affected by the tragedy eventually want to move on.

Yeah, you're definitely not awful. If anything, I'm more scared than depressed at this point. I've had my moment of silence, grief, and prayed for the families of those who were affected. But now I'm no longer sad, I'm just simply horrified that something like this would happen. I was terrified at the first school shooting I heard about. Then there was another, and another, and now this one. What makes it worse is that it was just elementary school, where the students are just so young. I can't find myself living easy with news like this.
Oh, and the mourning doesn't even stop today. Tomorrow our entire school is required (Not required, but everyone with a heart) to wear blue in memory of the lives lost. I'm considering whether or not wearing my Sonic shirt is inappropriate, because I think it's my only blue shirt.

Well, I love talking about myself, and right now I feel like music!

This entire weekend has been very musical for myself. I instantly started it out with playing all 4 of my Rock Band games going over my favorite songs and buying some new ones. And a lot more Queen, because you can never have enough Saturday I wrote the sheet music for "One Night in Neo Kobe" from Snatcher because my friend requested it. It's a very cool jazz song (and the nerd in me must also note that it's written in E Minor.) I might have to convince my band teacher to let us play it, hehe. Today I spent a lot of time on my piano project, which requires me to research the history of the piano. I don't really feel like doing it, so I'm searching for ways around it that'll still get me an A. The other 2 parts are more interesting, I'm composing my own song for a presentation and I'm making a piano out of candy! The rest of my weekend was boring work and competitive Pokémon training.

I have a concert tonight for band and again tomorrow morning. Thursday I have to play the song I've been working on for nearly two months now in front of my piano teacher. The concert tomorrow morning is forcing me out of my first hour, which is my piano class, making me lose an hour of practice.

If anyone's wondering, I'm playing this song on Thursday:

...without looking at sheet music. I chose not to because I can't read piano sheet music and play the piano at the same time unless it's an easier piece.

I finally got my In-N-Out burger for the first time in months and I found out that I have all As in my classes. Guess the curve was in my favor.

I am now officially on break! And what better way to start the break than waking up at noon? x3 Going into my exams these are the grades I had:

AP Calc: B (This class is so hard and much more different than Pre Calc ._.)
US History: B+
AP English: B (I'm horrible with this class since I don't particularly like to read...)
College Level Marine Science: A+ (Easiest class ever haha)
AP Spanish: B+
Culture class: B+

Now to find some ways to spend my 2 week break...

Tell yourself to beat a game you haven't beaten yet, but you'd like to in those two weeks.

Personally, I'll probably be playing lots of TF2 over my break, which starts 3pm EST Friday.

Don't treat the staff like royalty - treat them like you would any other normal person. After all, we're no different than you, we just have the ability to keep this place nicer, but even you have the ability to do that, so there really is no reason to treat staff any different than your ordinary forum goer.

We went to the desert today to have a nice desert safari. Everything was smooth, but the amount of flies was unimaginable. I think this time serves as the season for their eggs to hatch, as they were in hundreds, and they disrupted the mood because of how annoying they were.

And I always thought trips to the desert were supposed to be fun!!!

Seriously though that does suck I'm sure it was still really beautiful out there aside from the flies.

It reached 50F or 10C today I now don't even remember the last there was a Christmas here in Connecticut with snow on the ground.

This has been a really fun Christmas vacation. Oh, how I wish this was how everything always was. And the highlights-

-Getting sick the day of so that I could be treated like a king for a few days. (Not intentionally, of course. Being sick is very painful.)
-"Borrowing" (Stealing) my aunt's guitar so that I could learn it since she didn't know how. I caught on quickly (In just 2 hours) and a couple days later (today) I was already playing songs by ear with chords. I got Paint It Black, Purple Haze, and Celebrate.
-Going to a dine-in theater so that we could see The Hobbit. We bought tickets for the 21+ theater and none of the staff asked for my age, so we got kicked out of our theater. However, my mom used her lawyer skills to get us a full refund, free movie in a different theater, free tickets to another movie, AND free food. I'm so useful~

Although not a highlight of the vacation, I'm going through my own personal Beatlemania. They've been the only source of music for me for the past week or so.

I would try to recommend what I think is their best stuff, but I really love everything, so that won't work. But one of their best albums is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Great sound and great orchestra.

My favorites are Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (Totally NOT a drug reference), With A Little Help From My Friends, Getting Better, Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite!, and the titular song (plus its reprise) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I'm not in the possession of the full track listing or the album itself (yet.)

My brother just bought a guitar today and he was saying he was learning the chords to Paint It Black (he usually plays on drum sets if he had a choice). Go figure.

I see the girls go by dressed in their summer clothes.

So work today was funny. The heaters for the store we're off since we over-rided the original system so we could close early on the 24th and remain closed on the 25th. Turns out it froze everything inside. Half the freezer drinks blew up when we turned the heat on. Oh it was fun...

I mean, The Doors were a really great gig and their sound was amazing, but The Beatles dominated an entire decade. This'll pass in a few weeks, I'm sure. And the Paint It Black thing was obviously a joke.

They're over-hyped and unoriginal. From what I've seen, one of their album's cover art is a direct rip-off of The Beatles' "Abbey Road" art.

Sounds like my battling record with you.

I'm not taking a sport this Winter. All my school offers during the winter is Wrestling (not good at it), Basketball (I actually like Basketball, but there's no way I can make Varsity), and Chess (I'm horrible at chess xD).

I'm hoping to make the Varsity tennis team in the Spring. (I'm reaaallly not looking foreward to all the running)
