1. I guess the day of the tournement theres gonna be a big bracket. The two that are going up against each other will sort it out themselves on what there gonna be battle on.
2. Battle video would be the safest bet. If they can't post one then..you just have to trust that the other guy won't just say that he win if he didn't. ;w;

Celebi crisis:But i think its from Heartgold or Soulsilver ' cause its japenese. |
Battle videos can be used to confirm victories, but as long as there are no sore losers, we should be fine.
I'll stick the video up in the morning of Black Friday (my time) or maybe the night of Thanksgiving, telling people to prep their teams and check out a specified (not yet created) topic.
Just little over a week, man, I'm really excited about this! I have never been in a Poke tourney before, though I've seen my friends participate in several. I hope the bracket gets put up soon!
Also I have a question: What time next Friday are we actually starting? I've tried to get out of work that day, but they wouldn't have that, so I know I can't get home until after 6:30 EST. If that is too late, just let me know and I'll try to push harder to get it off and hope to be successful.
Friday is the only day in question with me, the others are perfect. With this only being 64 people, I'm thinking it shouldn't be a problem, but that's why I was asking, so I could be sure it wasn't. I don't plan on dropping out at all unless I absolutely have to, I gotta test my newest party that I got EV trained over the last 2 months ^_^
Well, not enough time for me to get another team set, so I hope the one I got does me some good, lol! Honestly, I don't think anyone's going to have to worry about losing really bad. I've played a few of you guys and everyone's been a challenge >_<;
---
edit: 30th post! woot kip-ness! do you liek me yet? lol
| Yeah. It will become 50. That's why we didn't do 100s. There's no way to make Pokémon level 100 in PBR, but it is possible in the DS ones. |
So, I've finally found my Platinum cartridge after a month or so of looking. Now I have a few more days of preparing. (If I didn't find it I woulda used my PBR teams.) Unfortunately, most of my Pokemon still aren't in top shape, especially the new one I'm trying to EV train. (Those guys aren't even beyond first stage evos.)

for the tourney, is it a single-out or double-out setup? I think double would be more accurate for judging the team's skill, but single is a lot quicker, I dunno, it's up to you guys. |
On the subject of judging matches...
I understand this might be difficult, as of course, we cannot evaluate your match if we aren't there. So, we'll be going by the honors system for the most part.
However, I have an idea that we could put to use to overcome that.
1. Anyone who can, record a video of the match and submit it to YouTube, then send it to a judge for review. This process is a little lengthy though, so it might not be desirable.
2. Platinum players (and if HGSS has a Vs. Recorder, you guys too) have a Vs. Recorder. They can use this to send videos of matches for online viewing. This will come in handy for judging. Simply submit a Battle Video online, and then send the video ID to a judge, who will review the match.
If we can do this, it miiiiiiight be able to cut down on how many times trainers cheat during the tourney (granted they shouldn't be cheating at ALL.)
Of course, this might not be able to be applied to everyone, so we'll rely on the honor system. If one trainer notices something out of the ordinary that suggests hacking or illegal modding, report it to a judge at once.
Also, on the topic of gameday, should we use the floatzel.net/chat page to make sure everyone's there and battling live, instead of posting in a topic on the forum, which takes a few minutes?

Honestly, I would have it where it's all done in forum posts for all regular members, but the Admins/mods should be in the chat as well as the board. Anyone that suspects anything can go into the chat and post what the problem is. That way, problems are addressed almost instantly by the higher ups and they can be taken care of. Keeping the chat clean will help the mods keep a track of who enters in much more than letting everyone in to have their say.
Anyway, DAMN! Only a few days left till the tourney! I'm dying here! >_<;;

True, but if someone makes a call on another player, how're we going to contact the other player if they're not on the forum?
The reason I think the chatroom would be better is because we can have everyone there, make sure everyone IS there, see everything quickly when it happens, analyze it, do what we have to do and move on.
If we go on the forum, stuff will move slower, not everyone will be on there, and we won't see results as fast.
Here's what we should do: Every participant is in the chat. They win/lose and post any immediate remarks in the chat. If something is suspicious, judges investigate. The match results and Battle Video number (if any) will go in a thread showcasing results of the tourney so far. Then we continue.
It sounds complicated, but it's most likely the best way to get everything taken care of all at once.

I found the best solution. All the important stuff (winners, battle video numbers, YouTube video IDs, cheater announcements) will be posted on the forum. However, Wednesday (25th), I'll be installing a new chatroom that is integrated with the forum and contains a nice unlimited archive feature. Problem solved.
hmmm not to nit pick, but im still curious as to how the whole first brackets are gonna be played out in a day. It just seems disorganized to fight the guy your up against, post the battle video, hurry up and find the next guy you'll fight and repeat all over again while 64 other people are doing the same. It just seems a like it will be a little hectic. .-.

Hmmm how bought this.
If the last pokemon both faint from a move like explosion/self destruct, the team that used it loses.
If the pokemon both faint to a whether effect, the one that started the whether effect is the winner.
If they die to something like life orb or toxic or burn the one that goes down first loses. That sound good? o3o
I also have to wonder....is there any specific time everyone can meet up in the chatroom for the tourney? =3=
As of now, there is a limit of 100 posts per page.
