Alright, so the point of this thread is to share what your latest video game purchases were (yes you can include things like systems, accessories, etc). Feel free to add anything you want to it (like what you paid, your thoughts on it, etc) and post whenever you get something new, just don't spam or double post.
As for me my latest acquisitions were:
F1 Race (GameBoy) - 50 cents - A pretty simple racing game, but I'm sure it would be more fun with the 4-player adapter (and three other people who have THE GAME to play with)
Grand Theft Auto III (PS2) - $2.49 - I've been playing A LOT of GTA4 recently (I'm sure those of you in Steam constantly see me playing) so I got this. Haven't really played much of it yet since I am working on 4, but it seems pretty fun (and it's nice not having a phone ring every few minutes
)
Sonic Drift 2 (GameGear) - $4.99 - It's a Mario Kart clone with Sonic. AI likes to cheat.
Wario Land (Virtual Boy) - $4.99 - Yeah I don't even have a Virtual Boy yet, but it is one of the best games for the system and it'll give me something to play when I do eventually get the system.
Most reccent purchase was The Orange Box for PC, and I've already put around 150 hours on it. I don't knwo if that means it was really that long ago, or I have that little of a life.
I also got Alien Swarm, but that's free, so I don't know if you could consider it a purchase. Still a fun game.
These were gifts, but my twin brother and I got an Xbox 360 with NCAA Football 11 because that's the 'New Releases' gaem I guess for my birthday butalso bought we Grand Theft Auto IV. We should have bought it earlier so we wouldn't have to buy it at Wal-Mart for eight bazdfjlakjillion times the price of every other store that has ever existed. I guess I'd better stop sounding like an idiot. :3
Before that I think my most recent purchases were an SNES with a beautifully yellowed case that came with Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Star Fox, Out of This World, and Dungeon Master, along with one good controller and one controller with a bad B button. 3:< oyeah and I bought Super Mario Kart separately.
A few items I have recently acquired:
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii): It deserves its praise. Having said that I haven't played much of it but I enjoyed what I did.
Red Steel 2 (Wii): Because using a gun and a sword to tear your way through Wild Wild Western Japan in a non-linear Metroidesque platformer in a cel-shaded graphical format that makes superb use of MotionPlus is awesome.
Monster Hunter Tri (Wii): As the action in this game is very MMO oriented I haven't gotten into it much but it's very fun.
WarioWare DIY (DS): It's a really neat game-maker, but to be frank that's its only worth. Not that it isn't fun or anything.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (WiiWare): I beat it within a few days but it cracks me up so much I want to play it again. (Yes this is my first PW game and no I haven't downloaded the fifth chapter yet)
Metroid (NES VC): Even though I have it on the NES Classics GBA cart and as bonus content in Metroid: Zero Mission, I find that playing it on a console is a much more satisfying experience. Using the HOME menu to open a save state on Virtual Console also helps as a workaround to the password system.
Kid Icarus (NES VC): Did you know? Pit and Samus are brother and sister! Seriously though, the same dev team who worked on Metroid for NES also made Kid Icarus at the same time and launched them as sibling titles. Kid Icarus is pretty much a balls-to-the-walls version of Metroid where the password system is of no use to you. And it's fun.
Went out with Cat and Greenman again today and I got the following:
Mario Paint (SNES) - $1.99 - Didn't come with the mouse, but for $2 I'll take it. It's going to need a good cleaning first.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2) - $2.49 - Amazing how a month ago I've never touched a GTA game yet here I am now with 3 of them.
And we went to these two stores that sell imported items from Japan. They had a bunch of Mario plushies and I got this little guy for $8 (yay cheap webcam image):
His name is Boshi. Cat got a one as well (a white one).
Edit: Yep, my suspicions were correct, it is a bootleg. Oh well, not like I was going to sell it or anything.

I got Super Paper Mario yesterday. Was $35 at GameStop (used but complete). It's an interesting game, part side-scroller and part RPG. I also like how you can not only play as Mario, but also Peach and Bowser (I'm guessing the fourth one is Weegee, haven't gotten that far yet).
I acquired Metroid: Other M on Sept. 1st. The gameplay is basically a mix between the sidescrollers and the Prime games. It's quite linear, and you aren't really allowed to explore until the end, but it's a good one. It's also quite challenging for one too. I ended up dieing quite a bit. The first phase of the final boss is a doozy too. I'm also going to get Halo: Reach on the 14th, but that's not here yet.
I got Megman Anniversary collection off of Amazon not too long ago. I got it for $11.99 for being used.
I guess this is more of practice because I suck at a lot of platforming games, mainly the Megaman series.
I also plan on getting Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Thankfully, it comes out 4 days before me birthday.
Half off used video game sale FTW
Burnout Dominator (complete) - PS2 - $7.50 Edit: FFFFFUUUUU, the ONE time I forget to check to make sure the game is in the case is the one time it isn't in there.
Gonna have to go back and get it.
Sonic Adventure (complete)- DreamCast - $7.50
Spyro the Dragon - PS1 - $4.99
F-Zero X - N64 - $3.99
San Fransisco Rush - N64- $3.99
Mario Tennis - VirtualBoy - $3.50
Oh, and Cat bought A LOT of plastic game cases for $10.

I just bought Pokemon Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal for only $25.00!!!!! Now tell me that isnt a good buy!
|
|
It may not be - very few Gold and Silver cartridges still work today (both of mine just conked out within the last year, though I'm not sure exactly when).
|
After picking up a standalone Megadrive at a car-boot sale, I decided to get a game for it to see if it works. So I went on Ebay and got a 4-in-1 game with Flicky, Altered Beast, Gunstar Heroes and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle. Lo and behold, the Megadrive doesn't work. :l
I also got Sonic 4 from the XBLA yesterday. I love it!
|
I just placed a pre-order for Kinect. I know MS's E3 conference was pitiful, but look at this:
|
I shall get started on that when school starts giving me some slack!Well today I went to this game store that was run by some fat guy who was really mad for some reason and fired one of his workers right when I walked in.....
, but anyway most of the games were way over priced like Disney Golf which the man was selling for $90 and a copy of Mario Paint for $300....$300 FRICKEN DOLLARS!!! Though it had the mouse included thats ultra over priced. While I was browsing this overpriced paradise I came across a brand new copy of Final Fantasy 3 (6) with the guide for $20 they both had the plastic sealing around them and are in perfect condition. When I asked the fat guy why this was at a pretty low price all he had to say was that "I like it at that price."
|
I just got Fable III and next week or so I'm going to get PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventures (I think thats the right name, not sure).
|
Went up to a thrift store that I haven't visited in a few months (which is sad considering I love going there and its not even two miles from my house).
N64 controller (Transparent green) - $3. Yay cheap controllers, and the analog stick isn't loose at all.
2 original PlayStations. One is a SCPH-9001 (ITS OVER 9000!) model (the last of the original PlayStations), and a SCPH-9003 (it's a Japanese system!) They were $5 each. What I find weird is even though I bought two PlayStations, they still have about another 8 of them there. Where the flip did they get them all? And for that matter, how the heck did a Japanese system wind up at a thrift store in Las Vegas?
EDIT: Actually it's an Asian model, not the Japanese model. However, it is still the exact same as the Japanese model (sans the different power rating). I opened the system so I could clean it up and I discover the previous owner installed a mod chip!
Oh, and a Sneasel plush for $1 *hides from Sunny*
|
I dont know if this counts but I traded my friend Fallout: New Vegas for Halo Reach. (By the way Halo Reach is AWESOME!!!!)
|
) Anyways, rented GoldenEye 007 from BlockBuster. It's good. But, a little hard at times, it's very hard to make it to the checkpoints as well.|
What.....the.....****!
EDIT: Speaking of which, did you steal that wallet, or just found it? (if I found $300 in a wallet, I would've bought the 3DS ) Anyways, rented GoldenEye 007 from BlockBuster. It's good. But, a little hard at times, it's very hard to make it to the checkpoints as well. |
I got Golden Sun: Dark Dawn on Tuesday. It's a very satisfying RPG, much like its predecessors.
Cat also sent me the copy of Metroid II I bought off him, and it came in the mail today so I began playing it. It's really fun, and it plays a lot like Mega Man since back in the days of the GameBoy, there were no L/R buttons so Samus can't aim at angles.
My Pokemon Gold game messed up, it wounldnt save, and I wanted another one because I love to play it and just so happens today at school my friend had one in his pocket and I bought it from him for 50 cents! It was funny because he found it this morning in his car looking for his house keys! ![]()

Went up to GoodWill and Deseret Industries (thrift stores) today. GoodWill was a bust, they had stuff but they were stupid expensive ($25 for a system only yellowed/dirty SNES with a bunch of chips in the plastic, $20 for N64s that don't have the Jumper Pack, $30 for system only PS1, etc). I had better luck at DI though:
Rogue Trip (PS1) - Complete - $4
Original GameBoy - Clear model with the original plastic case it came in. The case still has all the labels on it (and it was purchased new on 12/12/95). - $5
Sega Genesis - Model 2 - system only - $3
Yeah, I'm a sucker for cheap systems ![]()
Just placed an order for a used Sonic Riders game and a new GameCube memory card last night on Amazon. I had to do a LOT of browsing for the memory card to fit my $15 gift card budget, though. But hey, that's the lowest I've ever paid for a video game, excluding WiiWare and DSiWare. And when I get Sonic Riders in the mail, it's gonna be epic. :3
1 – ShadowA certain person gifted me VVVVVV.

Also bought a lion this: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/558/
