Camera Photos

Photos taken with the Sony Alpha NEX-5R.

DSC00243Sony Alpha NEX 5R JPEG ISO samples. (It's actually a centre 256x256 crop of my Zorua plush. I'll get the original image up ASAP, eh?)

It's amazing how you can now use 6400 reasonably and 25600 isn't too shabby.

(Shot at Fluorescent Day White WB, f/8.0, +1EV)And now, for a Zorua! If this were my smartphone's output, the background would be also in focus... or be less blurry. It'd be also a whole lot noisy! Thankfully, the NEX-5R is very capable.Setting the ISO to 100 and shutter speed to 10 seconds, you can achieve shots like this... if you can find a stable surface. (The bus stop's poles are stable enough for a camera as compact as the NEX-5R. It won't be for a DSLR, though.)It's actually rather easy to pull off shots like this by setting the lens to full telephoto. Even a kit lens can do a lot. Again, it's all about controlling the depth of field.Having an always-on rule-of-thirds grid is something I like a lot on my NEX-5R. Also, bokeh.Dried leaf on lots of leaves (hedge?). This demonstrates the benefits of the large APS-C sensor - and the depth of field flexibility that it provides.
